It could have been much, much worse. I don't hate it.

No, I like it.

It’ll make a great screen/billboard for light shows.... if the building management has any imagination.

However, if I were a tenant/owner in any of the Bremond Block properties facing it, I would be looking to move.

Yeah, I think that is my biggest problem with this. When you have that height I wanna see it continue from the street to the crown in one singular material/design.

This is definitely our first tower with a mechanical floor partway up, right?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the W has one between the hotel and condo sections.

We might as well just raise the street levels like they did in the Chicago loop.

The 15th floor is now the new street level.

Just checked the webcam. Looks like this one is close to reaching the next setback on the south facing side.

Is it just me, or is the office portion giving off some serious 80s Bank 1. (Chase Bank) vibes?. Especially with that row of black windows. Almost as if a nod towards one of Austin's earliest modern highrises.

Its not just you. Change the color to bronze or gold and you can see how the Chase and this look like they came out of the same design book.

It's tough to get excited about this one. The garage is an eyesore and for such large frontage on two busy streets, it has very little public interest or retail at ground level. I've gotten to where I cringe a bit when I read that Gensler is the architect on a building. At least it won't be the tallest for long and may eventually fade into the background unless you happen to be walking by it.

I wish Gensler would step it up a bit. I kinda feel the same when I see their name on something. I do think this will surprise once it's all said and done. Not just with the height, but with the lit band up top. It'll sort of be an in-between like Aon in LA prior to Library Tower.

I often harp about how cool it would be if our tallest could be that nixed Stratus/AMLI proposal by /Page(?). That cantilevered crown

Sorry, way off topic lol

It even reminds me of the old Bank One Tower in Fort Worth before it got smacked by a tornado and was reclad.
