One of my knocks on this building all along is that it needed to be '200 higher to be proportional. When it's finished -- even though it's going to be massive -- it's going to seem stubby and a little squat.

It's an interesting building with a variety of distinct angles. From some perspectives it will appear relatively sleek and slender and from others quite wide/bulky. The latter will especially be the case when viewed from the northwest (standing front and center at the edge of downtown with few buildings obstructing it).

That's fair. From my angles -- usually from Mopac/183 flyover looking south; or as a downtown pedestrian seeing it between other buildings -- it gives me that stubby impression. But from another view it could def seem less squat.

Our most prominent buildings over the past decade+ have been rather slender point towers. These new/wider towers with office components will certainly change the complexion of the skyline. The Google/Block 185 and Indeed towers have already.

I get ~610’ when going off the elevations to the top of level 47. Kind of surprised they didn’t jump the crane yesterday. When they do it will be the tallest thing in the skyline.

I can definitely see that. I got the same impression from this angle:

I took that pic a few weeks ago from near the Pennybacker Bridge to the northwest of downtown.

I think this view from the upper decks is now the most big city view of town, especially with 6x and Indeed. It's not the most aesthetic view, but it really makes downtown look wide and mountainous. And it will soon be one of the only angles where you can really see Frost.

The 71/290 East to 35 North flyover ramp is pretty good also. Much harder to view and take in as the driver though.

OK - can we at least get some consensus that this is one big-ass fugly parking podium?

Just imagine it shimmering all the way to the ground floor. Butt (as in the lower back side) Fugly it is! At least the name sake streets sides got better treatment.
