a new development called Slate

full render on google images

https://www.beedie.ca/residential/slate/

46 storeys by Beedie
313 units
At the "edge" of Brentwood

At that spot its going to show off some height, its a fairly high location compared to some of its surroundings

I love that they don't really care about the dome thingie in establishing how tall towers can go in Burnaby's town centres. 46 storeys at the edge of the town centre is quite something.

Exclamation

Looks nice. I don't think it will appear that prominent as Concord towers next door will be similar height. Crazy amount of action in Burnaby!

It’s not really an edge. Holdom Ave would be an edge. So should be good

Train noise Still Creek Burnaby

with all the development going on in Burnaby right along the tracks and the proposed 13 acre Concorde park and school. the city should install a sound barrier. Similar to noise barriers on highways. It will cover up the eye sore of the tracks around the park and help with noise. It's ano brainer in my opinion with all the people living so close and development potential of the land.

Why should the city pay for it. The developer has already paid acoustical engineers to design the building to prevent noise transfer from the exterior and interior. The trains and older Commercial area has been there for a lot of years.

Depending on how the DP was set up Concord builds the park for the city as it is part of the development.

Those are cool looking shots of the Metrotown Sunset.

Did they hire our Klazu to take them for them?

They look very Klazu-like*.

(*which is to say very very awesome)

Very nice location.... one of few remaining prime spots south of metrotown station. But you really need to be at penthouse or subpenthouse level to see over the concrete skyline to enjoy the view. Peek-a-poo views.

Polygon plans to build a four-storey, 58-unit condo building and 43 townhomes at the corner of Southridge Drive and Byrnepark Drive.
I passed the rezoning sign the other day

There is a large building going up close to the Edmonds Community centre, looks like it might be a seniors housing? Anyone know what it is?

I'm guessing it's this:

REZ #16-22 - Portion of 7550 Rosewood Street and 7126, 7210, 7216 Mary Avenue
Seniors complex care facility and a future seniors mid-rise apartment building. 240 units
