Yeah, I knew they were franchised out, I just don't see why it's such a big deal if it's a Hilton or a Hilton garden inn or a marriott or Marriott residence.. obviously one will be better, than the other, but no matter what they will all still have Hilton on the side of the building. Yes I get that they have different styles etc. But one Hilton to the next they all share the the Name Hilton which in itself is enough to draw customers. Now to kind of basically back pedal and go against everything I just said, I really like the Embassy Suites and would love for them to announce that as the "Hilton brand"

drove by the Junction Village this evening, and saw that they have a brand new sign up at the entrance with "for lease" on it. They were using the same rendering that we have all seen before.

Maybe this is the style that they are going to go with. If so, that would be great! It'll make a wonderful entrance into the western end of the downtown core!

EDIT

I just found a picture of their new sign - there actually is a difference in the design of Building "2" from the original; it looks better if anything!

Their website is operational (but currently bare bones).
http://junctionvillage.ca

I get the impression Building "2" will be the hotel and Building "1" will be their signature retail/commercial/residential building.........

I like the name Westmount Developments, named after Westmount Blvd here in Moncton.

A few tidbits about the Junction Urban Village from todays T&T

- The whole development (when built out) will be $100M, nearly equal to the value of the downtown events centre itself.
- The Hilton "branded" hotel will have 100 rooms, and will indeed be located on the corner of Ivan Rand & Vaughan Harvey.
- The building on the corner of Main & Vaughan Harvey will be the "signature" retail/commercial/residential building.

The hotel will only contain 100 rooms, wow that is quite small. In comparison the Hampton Inn on Mapleton is 126 rooms. Why so small? The property will be a Hampton Inn or Garden Inn for sure and not a full fledged Hilton because it's obviously too small.

I'm sure you guys are right, but just to question it, why has everyone made the assumption that is one of those two hiltons. I have stayed in a few Hilton Doubletree's that have 100 rooms, as well as two embassy suites that had 100 rooms and 110 rooms.

The main reason why I'm personally favouring a Hilton Garden Inn is because that's the banner being used for the new hotel in Fredericton in association with their convention centre. It just makes sense to me they would use the same banner here, but there is no reason why it couldn't be a Doubletree or an Embassy Suites.

That makes sense, personally I'm just hoping that they step away from following what others do. With the Marriott Residence on one end I think the embassy suites would fit in nicely, since currently we only have one "residence" like hotel in the entire city.

Though what your are saying does make sense and usually the cities follow suit when it comes to new projects like hotels.

Off topic from the Hotels and what brand it may be,currently I am a bit confused with the plans, so if someone could explain that would be awesome. What I can gather from is that they plan on building the Hotel on the corner of Ivan Rand and Vaughn Harvey, but then build the other building right on the corner of Main and Vaughn... so what goes between the two? it would look really weird to build one at the corner and then leave a huge empty lot and then the next building. Especially if say the first two get built but the rest doesn't pan out.

Currently it seems those are the only 2 buildings that have tenants(not counting the Gym farther back) So yes it does seem to be a possibility that if they don't get tenants they will not build. There is also the fact that I don't believe they will build if they have people on there VIP Waiting list for apartments if they don't have a Commercial/retail space tenant for the main floor of the building.

It does not help that they don't have any floor plans like other projects, and you put your name in for a certain floor plan, or anything to show what units are pre-leased, and what ones are not.

Here's an updated video from youtube of the Downtown Moncton Events Centre Development.

The footage was taken on Sept 5th.

The Channel on youtube is East Coast Overview.

That is one nice shovel! Also the three men on the right look like they could be in the next anchorman movie as one of the rival networks..

Also it's crazy to think of how many large projects will be happening in the city over the next few years.

-55 queen
-the arena
-the junction
-possibly the Harper building
-the new rcmp offices

I'm sure the is more I'm just not coming to mind, obviously some things may or may not happen, but it's the fact that their is so much invent and planning.

Just putting it out there, but is it time for the Junction development to get its own thread? Or the hotel portion at least?

Always a tough call. When an official announcement is made, or when a supporting document is made public, there is frequently a flurry of activity around a new project that can generate a couple of pages of posts. If nothing happens, then the posting activity stops and the thread becomes in danger of dropping off the bottom of the page. That's sort of the situation now with the MH35 and FiveFive Queen threads.

Of course, threads can be recovered if they drop off the bottom of the page, and once shovels start hitting the dirt (for FiveFive Queen), or when more speculative activity occurs (for MH35), the post count will go up again, so it really is nothing more than a personal preference whether a new thread is started or not.

The Junction Urban Village will be the largest private sector development under construction in the city. It apparently will cost about $100M, will transform an entire city block, and will be an architecturally significant project. As such, a new thread is probably justifiable.

If anyone wants to take the initiative, I would suggest titling the thread [Moncton] Junction Urban Village / Main & Vaughan Harvey / under construction

A choo-choo train sound effect at the end would make it super cool!

I'm ok with how things are now. It gets confusing with all the threads and people still post wherever they want to anyway. Building construction projects should be in there own Neighbourhoods on here. Moncton Retail = All Greater Moncton Retail. Im ok with Events Centre thread, but others can follow suit with their neighbourhoods as far as I am concerned.

Well, the old Cosmo complex didn't stay empty too long.

The Venue Moncton will feature a country bar and a nightclub. This is reported on the T&T's FB page. No indication as to when it is opening.

Times & Transcript says Oct 14th

The new complex will be a Nightclub with bands and DJs while the Old Rodeo section will stay a country bar (for now).
