Which is something Downtown Moncton should be striving towards, IMO.

Take some onstreet parking spaces on Main Street (or wherever), turn them into food truck spots from 11-6, and let them operate from those spaces. It's not overly difficult to incentivize this sort of thing if you allow them prime pedestrian-intensive areas. Moncton has enough surface parking I think it can sacrifice 8-12 on-street parking spaces for two or three food trucks.

The last thing the city should be doing is adding red-tape in regulation to something that should be easier and more cost-efficient to do for both the operator and the customer. Hopefully they get this sorted before the Events Centre opens because that is something that is going to generate pedestrian traffic.

Those are the only two places I ever seen food trucks. Then again, I don't drive around town 24/7, so I'm not sure where else these trucks are located.

Recent CBC articles pointed out that licensed food truck are only permitted at 3-4 designed locations in Moncton. Only 1 vendor (Farmer's Truck) has bought a license. Everyone else park in private lots around town.

Since Moncton is soooo sprawled, I can't see any of these food trucks getting much pedestrian traffic unless they are located right smack in the middle of downtown Moncton on lunch hour.
I have also noticed them at different locations on Coverdale Rd. in Riverview, mostly mid-week.
They are also on the corner of Millennium and Vaughan Harvey every Tuesday and Thursday, in the CGI / Blue Cross parking lot.

It would be interesting to find out what the "signature project" to be determined is.

It's the Hilton.

Nope, they're constructing two buildings. One is the Hilton. The other is the "signature" building.

Acadie Nouvelle says the other building to be built in 2017 is five storeys of retail (presumably on first) and luxury apartments.

The Hilton will be six storeys.

Between the "Events Centre" and "The Junction" development that's nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in development in essentially a 1-2 block area within the next 2-years, that's not including all the other potential developments in that area that could be happening.

Will this be a Hilton Hotel or a Hilton branded property, that's 2 different things. What I mean by this is, will this be a full service branded Hilton or one of its other and or lesser brands in their stable; Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Doubletree, Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites? The only full fledged Hilton in the Maritimes is in Saint John. I believe we will be getting a Hilton Garden Inn property, but that is just my hunch.

It will be Hilton-branded, not Hilton.
And l'Acadie Nouvelle is wrong, if they actuallly reported that the first building will be five storeys of retail. It will be one story of restaurants/retail, 2nd storey offices, with three storeys of residential on top, all subject to change.

Awesome news and I wish them the very best of success.

I'm assuming a Hilton Garden Inn (like they're building in Freddy), but this will still be a very nice hotel.

It would be like the Marriot Residence Inn at Main & Assumption. It's not a "real" Marriot, but it's a pretty nice hotel nonetheless.

So let me get this straight, they're building. 6 storey Hilton Hotel AND and another 10 storeyish "signature building" like we see in the renderings?

They're building a 6 storey Hilton and a 5 storey "signature" building with grond floor retail, second floor commercial and three stories of residential.

I had to read it again and you're absolutely right. I always assumed the signature building would be the hotel - so I guess that's great news. Also, at 24,000 sq ft - the new Goodlife location will be the same size as the Mapleton location!

I guess my wording was misleading. Five storeys, total.

So a Hilton branded hotel is not owned by Hilton?

Most hotels are franchised, not corporate owned. But what is being referred to here is the actual brand-name on the hotel. Hilton owns various brands that offer different levels of service. The Hilton brand itself is one of its higher end ones but it's likely that this is a Hilton Garden Inn which is a lower level brand.

My apologies Pierre, I sometimes read too fast for my little brain to keep up. My mistake!
