Pretty dense, but could this be the most non-descript view of the Montreal skyline?

I am not sure again what is the point with posting that old picture of Laval. Is it trolling?

That's because what is actually "Old Gatineau" is in Hull.

It's pretty weird that old Gatineau only has two highrises built/under construction (12+ floors) while the Ottawa-Gatineau region as a whole has an unbelievable 458 highrise buildings built/under construction (128 more than Calgary!)

For sure. The Rapibus is just not attracting the development it should. Doesn't help that the triangular field at A50, the railway/Rapibus and the Gatineau River was wasted for big box retail (reminds me of a mini-trainyards).

The entire route is parking lots and retail. So much potential for some density. La Cité has all of these destinations and services, and we're just now slowly seeing development with that one tower.

Some will say buses don't attract development, but then you have Baseline in Ottawa that's seeing dozens of buildings built, u/c and proposed based on the idea of a possible busway.

Also, impressive progress on your project!

Very much so. It is needing 5-10 larger scale residential infill in the core on key lots (similar to Edmonton in that sense) to really come alive and tie things together, but continues to impress.

Isn't Ile de Hull part of the Gatineau side? There are a dozen or so projects in that area

We're distinguishing between "old" Gatineau, which is east of the Gatineau River (left on the map, north being at the bottom) and Hull on the other side of the Gatineau River (west, or right on the map). Like many other cities in 2000 and 2001, "old" Gatineau, a mostly suburban area that developed mostly from the 1960s on, amalgamated with serval municipalities, most notably Hull and Aylmer. The name Gatineau as it had the highest population, but also because of many other natural features named Gatineau; the River, the Hills, the Park.

Toronto slays as usual but is there a point where the skyline is so big that it loses distinctiveness?

Ottawa’s growth is remarkable and one of the under told stories here, what it evolves to become is uncertain though. Also lovely Winnipeg photos with the fog.

A pic of mine from the weekend:

More in a bit in the city photos thread.

Airdrie must be for forbidden lovers then. Did you notice the rungs near the bulb that go nowhere and wouldn't help anyone climb?

I also see a similar water tower in that first Toronto shot by MonkeyRonin near the bottom right.
