What's going up at NAIT? Looks like its just a parkibg lot but i didnt get a good look. Theres a crane there.
A parkade for the students. I think the airport stopped allowing NAIT students to park there.

Was it an admin building that was supposed to be built at NAIT with a Quad area...North of the HP Centre? There was a video with all of that maybe a year ago? Is there a timeline for that building. I saw crane last week and wondered if they were starting construction on it! Sadly, it seems I'm wrong.

It is the Centre for Applied Technologies (CAT) and it will house a number of departments. Once it is built, the old (existing) Engineering Annex building will come down as well as another building (K,L and M buildings). The CAT is intended to house 5000 students, Health Sciences, Engineering Technologies and Sustainable Building and Environmental Management (which incl. arch tech, landscape arch, and int design).
The building is considered a top priority for NAIT and has been identified to the province as such. Funding has not been made available in the 2012 budget, but it is anticipated within the next 3 years.
NAIT's plan is also to include a student village which will include the construction of 3 buildings.
DP has been issued for CAT and the quad.

Since it is painted like the sky, I wonder how many birds are going to be crashing into it.

I finally was able to have a good look at Epcor today. Ken it is a very good looking facility and I love the amount of floor space. I was able to see some of the tenant spaces as well and I am quite envious. The views are quite something. Now we just have to remove the old station section and open that up so we can see the whole building.

I was wondering if the space to the right of when you come into the Epcor tower is going to be filled anytime soon?

^^

thank you...

^

we're hoping for something "interesting" and local - maybe a champagne/wine/scotch bar with a two storey cellar and a mezzanine connected to the restaurant space below the clerestory windows... there's a few interesting things going on but nothing firm yet. either that or a boutique financial or retail operation but no "fast food".

Enbridge gobbles up downtown space
Growth spurt means 2,000 new jobs for pipeline giant

Bill Mah
Edmonton Journal

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

First there was the Epcor Effect.

Now Edmonton's downtown office market is undergoing the Enbridge Effect - what commercial real estate firms are calling the impact of the energy company scooping up vast tracts of office space as it prepares to bolster its local workforce.

"We do plan to hire 2,000 people in 2012 to support our extensive slate of pipeline and renewable energy growth projects," said Graham White, a spokesman for Calgary-based Enbridge...

Melcor, build this for Enbridge. Still my favorite not built for the EPCOR RFP.

the answer to your question is that there is nothing stopping this kind of stuff from being built here... have at it and good luck - happy to give you any support and encouragement you need.
