It is the Centre for Applied Technologies (CAT) and it will house a number of departments. Once it is built, the old (existing) Engineering Annex building will come down as well as another building (K,L and M buildings). The CAT is intended to house 5000 students, Health Sciences, Engineering Technologies and Sustainable Building and Environmental Management (which incl. arch tech, landscape arch, and int design).
The building is considered a top priority for NAIT and has been identified to the province as such. Funding has not been made available in the 2012 budget, but it is anticipated within the next 3 years.
NAIT's plan is also to include a student village which will include the construction of 3 buildings.
DP has been issued for CAT and the quad.
