Either way, that dense area is insanely large. And you have to remember that's about as dense as 99% of my downtown... so seeing it over such a large area is just... heaven.
The Mile-End is only 1/4 of the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough and is only about 5% of what you see on that picture. The area you see on the picture is about 20km X 20km. The Mile-End is about 1km X 2km.

And despite the hype, it isn't even the "real" heart of the Plateau, which is centered around avenue du Mont-Royal, from St-Laurent to de Lorimier.

Awesome shots, guys - and thanks for the info!

I'm probably the only non-SSP person in my city who doesn't think Vancouver is in the Rockies and, now, I know Mile End is just a little chunk of the three-floor spread, not the works.

Next time you get there Ryan, you need to try two things :

Fairmount Bagel and Kem Coba ( sherberts & gelatos )

Both are definitely the best ! and both are on Fairmount Ave.

Here's another example and a question.

This a picture of Montreal from its Wikipedia page:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...,_Montreal.jpg

Running that through what I do with my own photos, I get this:

Does that seem closer to how it looks in person?

Truly depend on the hour of the day, the season and the weather though.

Saint-Lambert is a relatively affluent suburb from the streetcar era (mostly built between the 1910s and 1950s). I know they completely re-did the street in the pictures less than 5 years ago. The city has a good infrastructure renewal plan in which every year a different street is completely re-done: pipes, lights, landscaping and all. Most of the major ones are done already.

You simply won't find many cracks or potholes in Saint-Lambert. Compared to its neighbours Montreal and Longueuil, it is like night and day.

It may be true, but I'm anything but optimistic.

Our asphalt looks like to be made of Oreo cookies ! ...

I wouldn't call anywhere in Montérégie "Montreal" though.

And it's very possible to find plenty of pristine streets within Greater Montreal, mostly in select suburban enclaves... outside Montreal.
