I like how they call it a multi-purpose facility. They also used that description for Mosaic Stadium before reverting to just a football stadium.
Same bait and switch in Winnipeg. IGF was supposed to have a removable dome that would cover just the field. Something like a coverall or inflatable golf dome type thing. So it could be used in winter by other groups for soccer and such. It wasn't that expensive IIRC, but it was nixed.

The pier in the middle of the creek was covered at heated when I was past there on Sunday. The pier cap looks pretty smooth, it may have been prefabricated off site. Between my 2 passes a few hours apart they welded steel plates connecting the poles and moved the scaffolding.

Was there a study published anywhere about this? I'm specifically wondering why they had to re-align the road to accommodate the new bridge vs. just closing Pinkie, removing the existing one, and building the new in it's place.

The city never explains anything. I'm sure the people in Edgewater will appreciate having the road a little further from their back yards.
It is possible there was never any intention for the road to be that close to the houses long term, the ditch drop off along there is fairly steep.
And I just remembered, the new bridge has room under it on the north bank for a multiuse pathway, moving the road will allow a path over to Sherwood to be added in the future. Or add a gap in the wall at the end of Kestral.

The bridge isn't the only place where the alignment changes for the Pinkie rebuild.
The road will veer east after the golf course, then back to cross the tracks at the same spot, then veer west a bit before returning to it's original location.
Looking at last year's tender document my guess is that it is to allow for a paved access to several properties along the route which will reduce gravel getting tracked out onto the road.
Also allows for vehicles exiting the properties to stop and close gates without blocking the road.

A few gentle bends in a road isn't the end of the world.

The same issues with cycling in Regina will affect these. I'm struggling to think of different tourist venues in the city people would want to scoot between. From Victoria Park down Sask Drive to a Rider game? Under the Broad or Albert Street underpasses to get over to the Warehouse district?

Some city councilor will kneecap the whole thing by insisting on helmets.

I spent some time in Salt Lake City which and it was rare to see pedestrians, but there were electric scooters everywhere. They would be great for going between downtown/Cathedral/Warehouse District/Centre Square…They work well for those distances that are walkable, but not extremely short. Maybe you’ll see fewer people complaining about having to walk a couple of blocks from their parking spot if they can hop on a scooter and cut their “travel” time down.

Several new school projects among proposals from Regina and area divisions
Regina is asking for the greenlight on two more joint-use schools, and White City is looking to build it's first high school

City Council to vote on $128M from feds for aquatic centre replacement
The city needs to get this application in by March 14, which is the cut off for applications to the ICIP pool of money

I would point out that this ICIP money is not free money. Firstly it is taxpayer funded. Secondly there is a finite amount allocated to Saskatchewan ($900 million). Thirdly this will virtually wipe out Regina's share of the fund. That is there will be little or nothing from this fund for more worthy infrastructure projects in Regina.

Probably answered elsewhere, but noticed Taylor Toyota is opening a location in Southland. Not a pad site, in the old Jersey City spot (facing Gordon).

Anyone know what they’re going to use this for? Not a particularly big spot - and the way the doors are configured right now, I don’t think cars could be brought in/out of the space… course, doors can be changed.

I was hoping that spot would be a new Sephora. If it’s a Taylor Toyota then maybe a show room?

Also, if it’s Taylor Toyota then the mall has failed at their medical center attempt as well as getting Planet Fitness for that spot which was hinted in their renderings initially.

Pretty small for a showroom - maybe 5-6 vehicles… plus desks & other space. I agree this most likely.

I’d love it as a drop-off/pick-up location for servicing. Drop your car, they drive it to the dealership, do the oil change or whatever, and then bring it back for pickup. Unlikely, I realize - that would involve logistics of transporting cars to Broad that aren’t driveable for repairs.

It’s a temporary location while they renovate.
