Either somewhere in the Middle East, London or somewhere in China maybe. And there's still lots of lots along that corridor though I guess it's going to be a pain for land assembly.

I can tell you UN studio did not win the competition.

However, the actual project will be much more impressive and have the same wow factor as Vancouver House.

The firm is well known for their provocative projects with lots of wow.

Similar material palette

Developer is local and well known; established for a long time.

Was purchased by a local developer, but you need to click on 735 Bidwell.

BC Assessment will say "this property was sold with multiple properties. For more information, contact BC Assessment."

As I'm not in the position to contact BC Assessment and disclose additional information about this, maybe if someone has time and is interested, they could do so and share with us.

Did anyone download the Bay Parkade video by MAD?

Video was taken down; most probably Holborn sent a cease and desist order to Arc Shadow...

EDIT: Nvm, I found an archive on my computer...dm me if you want a copy

about the public amenity, there's multiple but the part about "something recently demolished" was another one in addition to the others but seems to be axed for more economic programs

either way, if one is familiar with the project, then you'll be disappointed given the original cladding proposal by the architects but if it's to the public eye, then I believe you'll be surprised but eventually disappointed by the city's rejection but who knows, they could turn 180.

All in all, everyone will be both excited and disappointed to be completely honest, it just depends on which stage you were introduced to the project at

Another interesting project to keep an eye out for is on Alberni, closer to Stanley Park but nearby the other current starchitect projects. Very interesting as well but DP will be in 2023. Different developer but has other projects nearby. This will be later down the road.

When someone mentioned giving a leg up to competitors, it's funny because I can think of a few developers who have their children interning at Onni maybe cause they think they're adept at value engineering projects lol
That was the 1700 Alberni project I was referring to so I guess don't expect to see anything public until at least next year

Interesting. MVRDV, ZHA, or Heatherwick would be nice I can’t think of other global practices that are explicitly provocative with wow factor but I am sure there are many.

I know the answer but can’t disclose, someone can contact bc assessment or do a title search

But let’s just say the developer/owner has a pretty good track record and usually doesn’t value engineer so there’s that

Since a number of you asked for the old video of the Bay Parkade proposal by MAD, here's a link to it

I just watched a video of the actual proposal; very stunning architecturally

timber, terrazzo, bronze, curved glass

stay tuned.

There should be a city led open house third quarter this year and the public hearing should be in the first quarter of 2021

So what's going on here, is this proposal revived?

Both proposals, 1700 Alberni and the Bay Parkade are active.

However, none of the design architects as discussed in the Daily Hive articles and others are the actual design architects

I guess that answers the question would someone winning a design competition post their design if they actually won (prior to the fact the project being announced).

For which project? 1700 Alberni or Bay parkade?

Feels very Singapore!

also - what are the height limitations on this site? Could anything prominent actually go up? Or is it going to be stunted with view cones?

Current city policy limits this prime downtown site to about 87 metres, the exact same height as the Telus office building.

Yup, that sounds like Vancouver. Central DT site, perfect for a landmark. 87 meters.

There’s no video for the newest proposal for the bay parkade
