I know. A better vertical connection to Mackenzie King bridge would help. The staircase across the street is kind of ratty. A new wider stair case or connection on same side of the street could be an improvement although I guess you could really question the cost/benefit analysis of such a thing.
Walking out of UofO campus and crossing Waller is mildly unpleasant at the best of times but that staircase next to the Hostel is so close to the intersection. Hard to say if that really "leaves you on the wrong side of the road". It's a pretty short block if you feel like swinging back over into either the food court or lower level of the Mall.
Sucks that once you cross under the bridge the backside of DnD is so hostile. Parking entrance and fences. The DnD grounds used to be unfenced as well.
Nicholas isn't going anywhere but just getting the trucks out of that triangle would go so far. Get rid of the trucks and one day all the busses with be electric and it won't be so bad.
Coming back from another Euro jaunt recently and I think half of the busses in Vilnius are electric and there is another good chunk that are trolley busses with overhead wires. It's so damn quiet in comparison.
