Are they saying the 200k is the influx only, but not total population gain (influx + birth - outflow - deaths)?

So where the heck is the 200,000 number coming from in that article?

I get the feeling that Weidner Apartment Homes ends up sucking as much cash out of their properties as possible and then look for a buyer who loves turn-around opportunities. They did make some very timely buys in Phoenix including one nice mid-rise downtown. Where it used to have the best property management their own approach is very different although they've raised rents. /smh

Development, direction of city playing big role in Arvada elections
10/07/2015 By Austin Briggs YourHub Reporter Denver Post
Quote:
ARVADA —No doubt about it: A city-wide construction boom combined with the 2016 arrival of the Gold Line commuter rail means Arvada is changing — and will continue to do so.

"Everybody loves Arvada, and many moved here for the suburban lifestyle that Arvada offers ... we have great parks, trails, a good police force ... it's safe here," Chandler said. "But the kind of development we're seeing has a lot of people very concerned."

He points to the Park Place at Olde Town and Walmart developments as "visible symbols of what's wrong with the direction of the city."
Five council seats are up for reelection along with the Mayor. All incumbents are running and are facing challengers presumably of the NIMBY variety.

Uncommon

Uncommon goes before the Planning & Zoning Board tonight. This is going to be a real shit show. The Uncommon development features 120 apartments, ground floor retail, and underground parking in a six story building. City staff are recommending the P&Z board deny the development application based on compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood.

Updated renders:

Cool little render the city put together to show the development's impact on its surroundings:

A previously approved development on the same site:

Thank goodness there are at least some realists in Boulder.

For those that didn't know what this was about.

I'm shocked and really pleased. I did not expect Boulder to do the right thing. At all.
