AC seems to be increasing YUL-DEL to 5x weekly from December to March up from 3x weekly.

YUL-LIS extended past January, 3x weekly increasing to 4x weekly in April.

Yes, AC moved 1x weekly from YUL-GRU to YUL-DEL in a recent update. Now they are both 5x weekly for the winter.

I’m passing through again in 2 weeks. Let’s see how it goes.

Pretty remarkable numbers considering all the AC cutbacks. More than made up for by Lynx,Flair, Porter and especially WestJet.

Looks like YVR's May 2023 domestic traffic hit an all-time record of 1,134,114 beating 2019's numbers of 1,071,267!

YOW's June pax stats are out. While it's early, AF's first four YOW flights had around a 95% LF

Sector / Jun-22 / Jun-23 / % Change
Dom: 283,120 / 317,392 / +12.1%
TB: 14,639 / 38,800 / +165.0%
Int'l: 0 / 1,066 / #DIV/0! - 4 AF CDG + 2 F8 CUN - safe to assume the last southbound CUN would have been almost empty
TTL: 297,759 / 357,258 / +20.0%

Sector / YTD 2022 / YTD 2023 / % Change
Dom: 1,079,918 / 1,479,342 / +37.0%
TB: 63,204 / 279,978 / +343.0%
Int'l: 42,722 / 193,995 / +354.1%
TTL: 1,185,844 / 1,953,315 / +64.7%

Month-Over-Month Change
Sector / May-23 / Jun-23 / % Change
Dom: 287,675 / 317,392 / +10.3%
TB: 41,476 / 38,800 / -6.5%
Int'l: 2,200 / 1,066 / -51.5%
TTL: 331,351 / 357,258 / +7.8%
Avg/Day: 10,689 / 11,909 / +11.4%
% of month's avg daily pax vs 2019 (13,990 avg pax/day) = 85.1%
YTD TTL vs YTD 2019 = 76.1%

Based on the YTD daily pax average, YOW's now on pace for 3.89 million pax in 2023. At the midpoint, that's almost +300K higher vs January 2023. 4 million is looking realistic.

12 Months Rolling / % Change vs Year End 2021
Dom: 3,108,423 / +171.7%
TB: 407,109 / +3,521.3%
Int'l: 244,273 / +1,466.2%
TTL: 3,759,805 / +221.1%

YOW's now on pace for 3.9 million pax in 2023 vs 3.6 million in Jan. 23. Surpassing 4 million is realistic.

Nice to see the water bombers return to YCG for some extra action.

Flair has another customer service issue on a flight from YYZ-YXE.

Insane, that is not a 10 hour flight. Passengers were left to share what food or water they may have had in their hand luggage. Flair did not provision the flight while it was sitting in Winnipeg and then decided to fly everyone back to Toronto.

There is a quote in there they gave the media where they said their customer service team is going to reach out to customers to provide "appropriate compensation". CBC is reporting that turned out to be an e-mail saying your are not getting any componsation.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/flair-delay-upset-passengers-saskatoon-toronto-1.6913289

Saskatoon needs Porter on that route to provide some competition to AC.

As is YGL / La Grande in Quebec, which is actually closed until further notice. 3H 732 arrivals to YUL are bypassing YGL and since YPX that is unaffected has no security screening means the 732 is temporarily arriving at 3H’s YUL hangar.

WS is adding at least one new route as part of its winter schedule.

YYC-TPA

Also appears they are dropping YYZ-LGA?

The 787 will also fly to Mexico with YYZ-CUN and YVR-CUN/PVR
Will also operate YYC-LHR/CDG/CUN/PVR/OGG/HNL.

Edit: YEG-MZT is back too. I think this was at Swoop last winter?

At the same time, YYZ-TPA is reduced from daily to 4x weekly.

YYZ-BNA seems to be cut and some domestic routes across Canada and even in the west have been reduced as well. A bit odd considering their spiel was domestic increases out west and southern flights in the east?

YHM-YYC - 4x weekly
YXU-YYC - 4x weekly
YKF-YYC - 3x weekly (this was serviced much more last winter)

Hey look, Westjet picked up a singular Swoop route!
YEG-YXX - 2x weekly

I mean I'm sure they're doing what makes financial/operational sense for them but at the same time none of this really matches the comments they're making and new strategy? Even at their exclusive YYC hub a lot of domestic and some other routes seem to still be below 2019 levels? This summer had a lot of growth though.

They are also picking up 16 Swoop tails and in this update there are only a few minor frequency increases with a whole lotta frequency decreases. Maybe there is another announcement coming based on previous comments/teases?

Quite a few layoffs abloom for CYHM airport staff if this is all Westjet will do...

What in the hell is there new strategy? Fly exclusively to YVR/YYC/YEG?

Canada’s leisure airline my ass.

Huge domestic opportunity here for Flair and Lynx to try and grab some extra market share… especially in the east.
