How long will it take for this deck to become a popular attraction. Also, how long did it take for the observation decks at the Empire State Building, RCA Building, and the WTC South Tower to become popular tourist attractions after they opened in 1931, 1933, and 1975 respectively.

I remember when The Summit at One Vanderbilt opened...I feel like I started seeing it on social media instantly. I feel like this building will be popular before it even finishes too considering how weird and radical this design is.

I was amazed at how quickly it became instantly crowded. People I know who don’t do obsevation decks and definitely aren’t into skyscrapers were going up there. In a city with lots of places to go, and many things to do, prople are always hungry for more.

Wow @ those pictures of Times Square on page 31. Times square looks busier than ever. It reminds me of Shibuya crossing in Tokyo.

^ It's back to being crowded, and this will definitely be a Times Square attraction, along with the new observation experience at the Times tower itself (1 TS). There will be multiple lighting and signing on this tower according to documents...







Now, there won't just be people on the street, but above looking down on the action. There is also the proposed casino that would be located about halfway between the two. So the people complaining about more pedestrian traffic because of this hotel/observation attraction don't really have a lot of ground to stand on.

The shape is more or less accurate based on the DOB information, but the facade colours and reflectivity are still a guess from me -- I'm guessing that Extell would want the tower's glass to be as clear as possible to take advantage of the views.

I think this design massing will look very redeemable if given ODA's typical subdued material pallette, but at the same time I have a feeling that the materials will be very out of left field for ODA.

Very nice! No reason they couldn’t have released renderings by now. But it’s Extell. Sometimes you get a rendering. Sometimes not.

Thank you! This project seems buttoned-down even more securely than 270 Park Avenue -- at least that building had models and conceptual renderings leak before the reveal. Not a single official rendering of any kind here, only internal diagrams and zoning massings -- maybe there just aren't any renderings behind the scenes to leak as there's no tenants or buyers they need to market towards? Perhaps renderings will be marketed once a hotel operator signs on.

Oh, they’ve got renderings. There are always renderings, and a hotel still needs to sign on. But there are always renderings presented to the developer.

All buildings in the city are required to have a single shaft that must connect to all levels, both above and below ground, for FDNY access and egress. Due to the nature of some designs, that is not always possible.

Some slight changes, no change in height. They now say 53 floors.

The upper floors will feature the restaurant, observation deck, VIP area. There will be 1,455 rooms.

Very well documented and I can imagine this place will be filled to capacity when it opens. Also, how many people can the observation decks at the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, One Vanderbilt, and 30 Hudson Yards hold at once.
