South side road work was started last week.

Out of curiosity, how do you know the other bridge is being completed next year? The sign only says “bridge” but just curious! Additionally, how do you get on site to take these photos are you a contractor? I’ve driven by a few times obviously intrigued just not sure what the protocol is to get on site. I assume orientations etc, but not sure! Also, do you know when the bridge will be complete?

I'm assuming they are replacing both since they were both are in awful shape. The west one has probably taken more hits from high equipment. It was in the evening and no one was on site as I was biking past from the south, so I dipped through the ditch onto the north ramp. Highway conditions site shows an completion date of October 15th.

I should make a big imgur gallery of all my construction photos. I took this one back in 2014 of the bypass bridges over the CP line, you can see the abandoned Ekaton off Dewdney plant in the background. Those bridges were built as part of the West Regina Bypass and sat unused for years with a dirt track leading up to them from the north and a paved section to Center Road.

Oh interesting, that’s a fair judgement considering the condition of the other bridge. I guess I just assumed given you were somewhat on site, you were a contractor or something. The bridge seems to be progressing quickly, and it’s fun to watch considering how public it is. I drive past it regularly but never thought of stopping to jump out and get a closer look… Don’t want to intrude on someone else’s site I guess was my thinking lol

Judging by your posts, seems that you also know a lot about bridges!

I wouldn't say I know a lot. But when it comes to road construction projects it is the most interesting aspect visually. Scraping ground and filling with road base is pretty boring and doesn't make for good photos.

Roads can be boring, but sometimes boring can lead to something interesting.

Co-op Liquor

On the FB Beer Lovers of Sask page, someone asked why Regina doesn't have any Co-op Liquor stores. Someone replied that one is coming to the Harbour Landing Co-op soon... nothing mentioned on the Sherwood Co-op's website, though. Anyone heard about this?

(someone also noted that Willow Park is technically owned by the Calgary Co-op now, but the conversation was about FCL member Co-ops not having a presence in Regina)

The city's development page has a notice for a liquor store in the Rochdale Crossing mall beside the Subway. No indication of the operator.

Jesse Kline: The real scandal is that Regina's so prudish, it doesn't even have a strip bar
The problem was not that the Experience Regina tourism campaign contained sexual overtones, but that it was false advertising

Regina does not like it’s Regina how sad is this more national party patch news

I pulled out all my construction related photos and dumped them on imgur. The most effort I was willing to put into it was group them into albums by year. Much of the time I just take pictures so I can get a closer look at something when I get home (18x zoom on current camera). I rarely delete anything unless its out of focus.

Funny you should mention this I was wondering if Sherwood Coop had won any of the liquor permit auctions. It looks like they had a permit before the auction... or they were really confident of winning one based on this one going on Parliament Ave.

Can't get a liquor license for a strip club.

Pretty much kills the economics of opening one. The no spandex in bars rule was also probably a bit of an issue over the years.

The authorities allow open hard drug use, but you can't look at boobs and have a beer.

Nicor has purchased the Canadian Blood Services building (Broad and Broadway) and is looking to redevelop it once the tenant vacates.

Not sure - saw it mentioned via their social media.
The sense I got was redevelopment of the entire site.
