*cost per passenger mile
100M per mile is really not bad at all for rail transit in 2023. at least let us see the project extended to the point of providing some utility beyond a downtown loop. this extension will give us this - a connection between downtown and a rapidly growing business node in O4W.
The state agency that oversees the Georgia World Congress Center, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park wants to envision what the future looks like for its Downtown campus, the hub of Atlanta's tourism and convention industry.
The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) released a request for qualifications seeking a firm to conduct a new master plan, a process expected to kick off in September.
The master plan would consider the potential for “revenue-generating redevelopment” of properties the GWCCA controls, says the RFQ. It would study connections into the surrounding community, including to new projects nearby, the Peachtree Street corridor and Castleberry Hill.
The master plan would also look at ways to expand meeting space, including “a potential dedicated conference center,” and how to modernize Building A of the existing convention center.
This comes as investment pours into Downtown. CIM Group is turning the Gulch into a mixed-use project called Centennial Yards. Newport RE wants to restore historic buildings in South Downtown. Lalani Ventures is bringing new tenants to Underground Atlanta. MARTA plans to overhaul the Five Points station.
The GWCCA now wants to “assess the impacts of that changed environment” on its campus, says the RFQ.

There's a demolition permit for the address but they have yet to submit any plans to the Midtown DRC.
Here's the article about Northland's purchase.
Quote:
Northland bought just under an acre at Spring Street and 17th for a whopping $19 million, or about $555 per land square square foot, according to Fulton County property deeds. It was sold by an affiliate of Drapac Capital Partners, an Australian real estate firm with a big footprint across Atlanta.
The site Northland purchased sits in the middle of several mixed-use projects and apartment towers either planned or underway. Next door is the site of a proposed 31-story apartment tower at 1405 Spring Street that JPX Works and Zeller Real Estate will develop. For comparison, JPX paid around $459 per land square foot for their half-acre site. Farther south, the Rockefeller Group paid $500 per land square foot for 1.1 acres at West Peachtree and 12th Street.
