Foster’s 425 Park has only 3 giant spikes on top of it now
. . Where did the 4th spike go to ? . . It’s GONE ! . .

I noticed it also when I went up Park Ave last weekend . .
Did the building not finish up with four massive spikes on top . .
. . Or perhaps I’m crazy . .

I can’t seem to find a clear shot of the crown straight on . .
to see how they integrate with the vertical ribs off the tower
. . Are they not centered or something ? . . sorry Nevermind .

As if they couldn't build this anywhere else in Manhattan.

There are two main points I will make about this project.

#1. I have seen numerous cases where empires have made outlandish expenditures and then, shortly thereafter, collapsed because of their arrogance.

I will not be surprised if this project turns out to be such a misguided harbinger.

The costs of preparing a separate building for the workforce, the costs of moving the workforce Twice, the costs of destroying a massive building which was

not in need of such, the costs of building a bigger building in its place,..... this reeks of exce$$ivene$$

Actually, they couldn’t build this anywhere else in Manhattan. It’s called zoning, property rights, and location. As far as building a larger tower, JPMC is one of the larger employers in the city, and could have built an even larger tower had zoning allowed it.

Good thing you aren't running Chase.

Buy your own property, and then you can make your own determinations of what constitutes "excess". That doesn't even make sense, as there's a finite value of air rights, so if this building were smaller (or bigger, for that matter) it wouldn't make any difference in the neighborhood's overall relative scale.

This tower is turning out just as amazing as I thought it would be. For some reason, however, I had it in my head that the diagonal mechanical floor grates at the base (just below the first levels of glass) would be a lighter, more golden color vs. the rust color of the columns. Not sure if that was show in detailed renderings of the base, but I had that in my head for some reason. Still, this is going to be a stunning building.

During the approval and planning process, it was depicted as having a slightly lower base with more golden columns…

Are there any updated renders of the future New York skyline ~2030 with the current construction/approved buildings?

There are renders from a few years ago, but since then we’ve lost Broad St. in downtown and the empire station is up in the air at the moment, as well as Affirmation Tower. Tower fifth as well seems unlikely.
