Very true but take a close look when you’re in there. It always looks dirty. Rodent droppings on food prep area and the condition of cooking surfaces. Disgusting. I will not return.

I actually only tried it a couple of times when it first it reopened under new ownership. It isn't nearly nearly as good as when Dave Forestell had it. They no longer have daily soups and you can't buy milk to go with a sandwich or hamburger. Plus, I miss Dave's Chowder on Friday's. It used to be my go to place for lunch in the market but not anymore.

Fabricville is closing their SJ location at Parkway Mall, (next to Pharmasave and Hart). An email that was sent out to customers about the closing.

Update: Apparently their lease is up and they are seeking out a new location.

Spirit Halloween is opening a location in the city this year. (Last time they were here was 2019). Job listings are now online with the location postal code in the descriptions of all the job adverts being 90 Consumers Drive. JYSK is officially confirmed. 384 Lancaster Avenue will be before the planning advisory committee this Tuesday, July.4th for rezoning. The attached site plan show that it will be a JYSK store.

Strikes me as a very odd location for this.

Just Cozy is currently setting up at the former Children's Place location inside McAllister Place.
Wonder if the spot they've been setting up at next to Suzy Shier is spoken for then, if they are in a different spot this time?

It's very distinctive though, I'm kind of impressed that someone is willing to take a roll of the dice on an off-ball west side location. Hope it succeeds, it's a good IKEA alternative for somethings.

Who here thinks that Fabricville and the Hart store located beside Cineplex might just choose to swap storefronts? I could see Hart look to get possession of the current Parkway Mall Fabricville space for itself.

Employees and the store manager of Torrid inside CF Champlain, (Dieppe), has confirmed to a customer yesterday that Saint John is getting a location. They don't know when but something to keep an eye out for.

McAllister Place updates

Mobile Care has opened at the corner unit beside Stuffy Riders, (near Urban Planet).

And Just Cozy is now open in the former Children’s Place across from RW&CO.

Griffin Jewllery Designs is coming soon to McAllister Place. A source has confirmed that they are opening at the spot Your Shoppe was located, (at the corner next to The Body Shop).

Edit: Your Shoppe has moved to the recently closed U-Design, (between Ardene and Soft Moc).

Telegraph Journal is reporting that Popeyes is aiming to open in October 2023. They are hoping to complete construction mid-October and open the location late-October. https://tj.news/greater-saint-john/102154460

During the public hearing for 384 Lancaster Avenue, a representative from the Danish home furnishings retailer, JYSK, spoke to the council.

One councilor asked what made them choose the west side and he answered that because of our community and ideals fit in with the company's ideals. He also said our city is a beautiful city especially with the boardwalk and what it will look like after development is complete.

He mentions this is the first store in the region and that they are looking at another store in Bridgewater Nova Scotia. He also said they are looking at some other locations around our region. No specific mention of other NB locations they are looking at.

When asked about timeline of construction completion and when they are looking to open, he said immediately. He said contractors and everything is waiting and ready once they get the rezoning approval. Opening will be early Spring 2024 if everything goes well but they hope to be able to open this year.

Council has APPROVED the 1st and 2nd reading of the rezoning proposal.
