Wow, you'll have to let us know how it goes!

We may not have very many overseas flights (just one ) but CDG is a pretty good connection to the world:

I just booked a trip to France for the first week of September. We are heading to Nice specifically, not Paris but tried to make Air France work. Unfortunately the cost was too high for me personally.

YOW-YUL-NCE, Air Canada $970
YOW-CDG-NCE, Air France $1,570

Hopefully this means the flights are doing really well and that's why they command such premiums.

How many days a week does AF fly? And what are they using now?

For any given set of travel dates, on any given day, at any given moment, the pricing can fluctuate greatly. Comparisons like this don’t really reveal anything. Case in point: I just did a search for this routing via CDG and I’m finding it for as low as $1049 in that timeframe.

Too bad you couldn’t make it work but at least you’re starting your journey in YOW.

I really wonder if the general public knows how to power use Google flights or if they just go to an airline web site/Expedia and hope for the best…I’ve thought about posting a tutorial but I haven’t the time. The keys are setting strong filters and using the date grid. It’s extremely powerful; the only real limitation is that you can’t filter out basic fares. Hopefully they figure out how to add that.

You at least started in YOW, that helps our cause. Prices are very hit and miss I found. It’s as if they want us using it for certain destinations but not others. If it means anything, my flight to CDG this summer is ~50% full and coming back to YOW is ~70% judging by the seat map. This only takes into account those who have chosen their seats ahead of time so for all I know these flights could be completely full.

I find it weird that Google Flights rarely (if ever) suggests routes that involve using PD to connect via BOS or EWR, even if it involves separate reservations.

For example, I need to go to DFW in a few weeks and SkyScanner suggested YOW-BOS on PD and then BOS-DFW on Spirit or American. However, that route didn't show up at all on Google Flights. I ended up booking YOW-ORD-DFW on UA because I'm more comfortable with Google Flights but I would love to support Porter more in the future wherever possible.

I noticed the same. I would love to go YOW-BOS-?? with Porter then JetBlue but the only options involve YOW-YTZ-BOS-??

Last day of YVR service on the 789 until the fall.

There were also four YYZ flights served by Rouge today.

Yeah I noticed that too. For a few weeks the 0700 has been Rouge but today it's 1/3 of the flights. One Rouge was a 320.

Today’s departure count: 76

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 0

There was also a Chrono Aviation DH1 that visited twice today. Interesting routing of YQB-YOW-YSB-Geraldton-YSB-YOW-YQB-YBG.

Wildfire related, perhaps? There's an Ontario Fire Management office in Geraldton (and also a Wildfire Management Office in Sudbury).

Completely a guess on my part, but Canadian North only need theirs in the morning and AF will only need them in the afternoon, so that would seem like a logical place for them. Guess we'll find out for sure on Wednesday.

Does Air North have dedicated counter space in Ottawa? That would make sense as well.

I will miss the inaugural AF. Anyone planning on going and getting shots of it? Surely there’ll be a water cannon salute.
