This may have already been said, but I’m curious if this will now push others to announce their developments. Thrive with the Current in Riverview and Ashford?

A friend has just told me that there is a competition developing between the main developers in the city to have the tallest and most prestigious projects. If there is serious jockeying going on, it could be an interesting few years.

This is why there are rumours floating around that St. Bernard Square and the Ashford/Downing projects have been upscaled to 20(+) storeys.

And then there is also Lafford's One Foundry project (the fourth sister), also in the 20(+) range.

I was reading under recommendations the city is mentioned doing similar to the corner of Main and Vaughn Harvey and adding in flexibility so that the developer can be approved for any size build on the property as long as it doesn’t go below 6 floors.

It would be exciting if we could get a developer interested in a 20-30 storey building on this corner too........

Six floors on the Vaughan Harvey & Main corner would be a disaster. Let's hope that we get a signature building on this important intersection.

I wish we can get a really tall building (15+) and it ends up throwing a shadow on the tomatoes across the street anyway. Is it even possible? Lol I'm just being petty

30 storeys is insane!

It would be at a very nice spot too since it's at the eastern edge of Moncton downtown, and it will be very prominent against its immediate surroundings.

Either the current developer aborts his underwhelming plan and steps up to the plate with something more substantial, or a new developer takes over and we get an appropriate development of at least 10 floors.

I can actually believe this. It will be interesting to see if someone takes a huge leap with design. I noticed that this newest Icon development has a similar look to the Three sisters, but clearly much taller.

It’s in the same general direction as 55 Queen but seems a bit closer. The background may also not be very accurate.

Did the last developer back out? Or is this project (scaled back to 6 floors) on hold?

To put things into perspective, here's what the 30-floor, 101m tall, Richmond Yards building looks like after topping out in Halifax. It is currently the 2nd tallest building in Atlantic Canada.



I must say, I'm impressed that Moncton will have one of these soon enough.

Drove by that lot this morning and I saw 2 excavators and a 3rd heavy equipment I didn't quite see clearly.

Ah I forgot to add this to the quote, but I saw 3 heavy equipment on the lot. 2 excavators and a 3rd one. They're kinda on the smaller side though.

I am quite excited about the possibility of a 30 storey here in Moncton. That empty lot which signals the transition from an urban environment to the west to a suburban environment around the circle would do well to be filled, it will be quite the transition between the tower and the malls beyond. My greatest hope would be that somehow, the strip mall commercial right across the street, where the riverside is ignored or littered with dumpsters, is somehow redeveloped into something that is more inviting and embraces the river bank.

Drawings for the first Ashford building have been out for about a month now.....
