Any word on when the townhomes on square near Harding will start? Or another dead project?

I heard this year, but... it's June, and nothing. I might make an offer for the lot and plans after I build mine.

Has anyone laid eyes on the new railing on the side of city hall... Yikes. It looks like a deck railing! Not good...

19-27 Cliff Street is for sale. A new listing on Realtor.ca is advertising it as a great multiple purpose development opportunity.

https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/25723431/19-27-cliff-street-saint-john

Quote:
"Great multiple purpose development opportunity in the great location of Saint Johns city center. Located minutes from Saint Johns uptown core makes this and exciting opportunity. This site is just of an acre of property which was formally a high school with massive square footage. Building is being sold ""AS IS WHERE IS"" and has over 73 000 of potential square footage. A plan to convert this building to a 36-unit apartment complex to be available for serious buyers. This building is in good repair outside but inside would need to be striped and completely rebuilt to suit your purpose and needs. Current zoning is Urban Centre Residential (RC) Zone giving the purchaser many options for this Central location and its redevelopment potential. Please note that all information with property is a combination of 3 different PIDs (55226724,55012074 & 55231567) as set out by the province of New Brunswick. Value is placed on exterior, lot size and development potential. All measurements and information is to be confirmed by purchaser. (25811842)".

Only thing I heard is it’s $120,000,000. Consider that the impressive new Halifax library cost 57,600,000, so wherever it is it will be incredibly impressive. Friends of mine claim land was purchased adjacent the existing museum and will be built overlooking river. There is a property to the right of it that sold according to SNB. Maybe they’ll build a huge glass structure that will incorporate the facade of the existing building and be visible from uptown. New museum, theatre on King’s Sq, new NBCC building, new health and sciences building at UNBSJ - will be a huge cultural boost to city.

An article in the TJ regarding St. Vincents High School mentioned a critical snippet about the Steepleview project.

Quote:
Steeplview, which will result in 56 living units and an 80- seat day care once built, should begin construction within the next month, McDonald said.
This would mark the first major residential project to break ground Uptown since The Wellington.

I don’t have a subscription - who is this McDonald person? I’m not optimistic they’ll start soon as they aren’t even fully funded. Unless an announcement from Wayne Long about fed money is imminent.

That's been going on for awhile now. Hopefully, like he says, it'll start soon.

I hope Steepleview starts and the old high school next door sells to a developer with motivation, because the change to that neighbourhood in a few years will be incredible if we get that much new residential in a short time. Add in the proposed building from the corner of Waterloo and Richmond, and the one further down Waterloo close to Middle Street that adamuptownsj is building, and we’ll see a whole new Waterloo Village vibe soon.

I’m sure it’s temporary, as it cuts off the concrete ramp they built on the side. Must be a supply shortage for the proper materials so they installed a temporary railing for the time being so the entrance could open.

He is the President of the group behind Steepleview. If all the projects that applied received funding I believe it would unlock around 150 residential units so we would see a surge in construction. The announcement is supposed to be made at the start of July.

City dump truck and backhoe at Steepleview. Or more accurately, doing something on Cliff with the Steepleview fencing opened up. Infrastructure?
