The slight decrease in satisfaction is statistically insignificant. A rounding error. I wouldn't read too much into it.

According to the 2022 Annual Report on Zibi, there have been residents on the site since July 2020, but that number has been small (140 residents) until the population more than doubled with the opening of Aalto in 2022. The population reached about 360 by the end of 2022. With a small population, it is likely that there would be few complaints.

Also, the CoViD-19 pandemic meant that Cirque du Soleil was on the sight for the second time in 2022. There were no residents within Zibi the last time Cirque was there, in 2017. Thus, this was the first year that they experienced it. It might have been fun and exciting the first year, but we have no idea if they will get tired of hosting it in the future.

According to the surveys carried out by Zibi, there has been a decline in the happiness of the residents living there. In 2020, the happiness rating averaged out to 4 out of 5, with 5 representing ‘Very Happy’. By 2022, that had dropped to 3.8 out of 5. Perhaps with your apparent knowledge of how the Zibi residents feel, you can shed some light on why the level of happiness is falling. Could it be because of the festivals and shows being a disruption?

Is it much more substantive to suggest that programming isn't feasible due to the residential nature of the development, like the comment I was responding to?

Granted, no, I didn't study the data before making my comment. I based it off anecdotal evidence speaking to the few local residents I met at Festibiere, and from the lack of any CBC articles featuring scowling, cross-armed residents after Cirque du Soleil.

You're right though, those two events, along with any others held at Place des Festivals, may have contributed to the 4% decrease in resident satisfaction you noted.

However, as others have said, I think it's much more likely that those moving into a development like Zibi are seeking the opposite of peace and quiet, and that the slight decrease can be attributed to things like the Chaudiere Bridge construction.

"reflecting on your activities and life circumstances, how would you rate your happiness?"

i don't read that as an indicator of satisfaction with the location of nearby events. in 2022 it was largely two outliers responding "1" that pulled the average down

they only had 38 respondents out of 300+ units but yeah if i had a landlord ask me if i was happy or healthy id probably tell them to pound sand too

Zibi is really filling up the view from Champlain Bridge. It is almost a continuous skyline.

I'm "ok" with Aalto I, but man O and Aalto II are such a disappointment for such a prominent location. Thankfully the Ontario side is a totally different story so far.

What bothers me about Aalto I is the podium and the split beige and charcoal colour. Pick one colour for the podium and one for the tower. The tower and podium are supposed to be distinguishable from one another, not each half of the tower.

O is very bland, but seems high quality. Aalto 2, I'll have to wait for the finished product, but it does seem it will be even blander than O.

They've been doing quite well overall on the Ottawa side, but I'm afraid they are kind of realizing the region has low standards and slowly trying to reach that lower bar.

Visitors to Zibi will soon have the opportunity to experience the full restoration and adaptive reuse of a former JR Booth building located on the South edge of Albert Island, overlooking the War Museum. The building, which was built after the great fire of 1900, will soon become an office space with retail, weaving the old with the new, including exposed brick walls, and repurposed wood and steel .

Zibi is also in the process of developing conceptual designs for the former stonewalled E.B. Eddy buildings along Taché Boulevard and Eddy Street. Some sections of these buildings have the highest level of heritage protection in Québec with some of the foundations pre-dating the 1900 fire. Consultation on the proposed approach to rehabilitation will take place with the Québec Ministry of culture...

Same. The planned hotel for that building would be a huge boon for the area. That will help greatly in supporting restaurants and entertainment.

I'm apprehensive and excited for the E.B. Eddy Buildings. It's a challenging restoration, and probably will require large swathes of complete dismantling and rebuild, based on the extent of weathering. This has the potential to be really great.

What I'd REALLY like to see is a better cycling connection through the gap to the south of E.B. Eddy, towards the park to the west.

I wonder if the new triangular building at the West end of the JR Booth Building will be built along with the restoration. We are all wondering if there will be a passageway under it, so I would love to see a detailed plan asap.

You'd think that would be essential, since construction equipment will need to go through the courtyard.

That stretch of Alexandre-Taché along E.B.Buildings sucks. Speeding cars, dust everywhere, shadows for most of the day. Will be hard to make the building look good with that road as it is right now.

I hope they remove one lane and plant some trees or bushes, add some lighting and pavers. That one lane has been closed for more than a year.

Well it's closed because it's the turn lane to get into the bridge, which is closed for now.

One of the proposals for implementation of the tramway through downtown had vehicles shifted North in front of Terrasses where the bus stops are right now, with Taché/Laurier converted to tram only from Montcalm to Portage bridge. That would nicely solve that problem, with plenty of space for wide sidewalks and bike lanes.

I doubt there will be any reorganization of the roads until there's clarity on whether the tramway happens or not, since it's so central to its route.

^it looks just like the renderings! I really appreciate how on the Ontario side we get exactly what we were shown! Cant say the same for the Gatineau side. I remember seeing high quality rendering with very different look from what we've got
