They are busily removing the concrete pad this morning where the former Pizza Hut on Mountain Road was located.

Is this just the removal of the final piece of evidence, or, is there something more permanent afoot for this location.................

This little throwaway nugget was in Mayor Dawn Arnold's summary of city council proceedings this evening:

Interesting design and choice of colours. I don't dislike it.

I sense impending NIMBY trouble however. Expect fireworks over the next month or so.

With Northrup Frye on the other side of Ryan Street, I could see a move to signalize the Ryan/Augusta Terrace intersection.

Seems like the property next to metalium on killiam dr sold for 530 000 $ on June first 46°05'41"N 64°49'27"W · 31.7 m… big size empty lot , wonder what the plan .

Again, a half decent looking building, and the location close to Northrup Frye should be a big selling point.

I am aware however that online opposition to this proposal is rapidly building on social media. I think this is misguided. The building will be located on Ryan Street, which is a suburban collector with increasing traffic. It is not a desirable location for single or semi detached housing. Small apartment buildings however would be ideal. I think rather than trying to block this proposal, the enraged citizenry should instead be lobbying the city for a signalized intersection at Ryan/Augusta. This would make it safer for students walking to the school, and the densification occurring at this intersection could sway the city to consider this possibility.

Apparently this will be a relocation of the existing Subway in the Northwest Centre. Apparently their lease will be up soon, and they elected to go for a standalone location with the added benefit of having the drive-thru.

The lot sold for $100,000 in February. The abutting lot behind it sold in May. I wonder if it's the same purchaser? They could consolidate both lots to make a bigger footprint. The 917 Mtn. Rd. lot isn't very big.

Agreed. Not a very large footprint. The only thing that would make sense is something fast foody, probably with a concentration on drive thru traffic rather than eat in.

True, not an ideal place for residential. A drive thru could be accessed via Cedar Street if they have in fact purchased both lots to combine them.

This proposal for 1383 Ryan Street, across from Northrup Frye School was approved by Moncton PAC at their meeting earlier this week. Now it is on to city council for final approval.

Apparently a small 32 unit apartment building is going to be built on the vacant lot just to the south of the car wash on Mapleton Road. Equipment is already on site.

There are no renderings currently available, but given the size of the project and the location, I don't expect anything fancy.

It's the right decision in my opinion. I live on Crowbush and drop my kid at Northrop Frye so I understand the traffic concerns during the rush hours. But it's not enough to hold up the project.

Like the traffic engineer mentioned, those are existing conditions. They should be addressed with/without the project anyway.

That's a decent apartment in comparison to the other 4 story garbage apartments they've been putting up for the past 10 years. The neighbors should be happy with this. Corner unit with trees, flat roof, 6' perimeter zone with trees. It's not like it's the middle of the north end neighborhood. It's on Ryan rd/st.

The Horsman Centre on Horsman Road has been complete now for at least a month, but, the site remains closed and I see no evidence of any interior fit-up for tenants. I now firmly believe that Corey-Craig has built this plaza completely on spec.

In their initial rendering, they were pitching this plaza to be anchored by a pharmacy, medical clinic and bank, but, it's obvious that these plans fell through.

I think it will be hard to find tenants for this plaza without a strong anchor. It's too bad really, the neighbourhood is growing quickly and there is a lot of traffic passing by on Horsman Road. This plaza should be a success, but I think it will be very slow to take off.........
