Another potential big development in booming West Midtown.
Rezoning Planning permit filed for 961 Image street, just south of 10th - the block that currently has Pijiu Belly and Paniq escape room.
"This application requests a rezoning of a 1.308 acre assemblage of properties from the I-1, C-2 and PD-OC zoning districts to the MRC-3 zoning district. The properties are located in the Marietta Street Artery Overlay district and the area is also proposed to be included in the pending Upper Westside CID Overlay district. Currently, the property is improved with several small, single-story buildings in varying conditions. The proposed development would include approximately 346 multifamily units, 157,339 square feet of hotel use containing 191 hotel keys and 25,000 square feet of sidewalk-level commercial uses. Addresses Incuded:952, 964 & 966 Watkins Street, NW, 949 & 951 3rd Street, NW, 961 Image Avenue, NW and 678, 686 & 688 10th Street, NW 955 Image Avenue, NW."

sounds like two new buildings from those numbers. This area continues to put out some of the best proximity of retail throughout a neighborhood cluster, too. Really well done from how active the ground floors are

Man! This is getting to be a rather dense part of the city with completely inadequate roads and only buses that most people will not use for mass transit.

I think this also vindicates the complaints against the QT that was built at 10th and northside a few years back. This area is going to continue to get developed and become more walkable, and that corner is going to stick out like an unwalkable sore thumb.
For transit, I agree but I'm just not sure what they can do. Getting heavy rail here would probably cost a billion dollars, and light rail or street car hundreds of millions. Improved bus frequencies and more separated bike lanes would be the most feasible near-term improvement. The #12 bus is pretty heavily used.

I missed this one. I assume a residential project is planned here. I never imagined there would be so much residential development in this part of Midtown.

Bender posted this on this Twitter recently. It's another residential tower.

42 stories of mixed office and residential is a big tower. Hopefully the project is fitting of the site—it’s one of the best parcels left on Peachtree.

I’m not anticipating the design to stir the soul, but sure would be nice to have a refreshing addition at this location.

Waiting for Selig to announce something for 1125 Peachtree St. That empty parcel\ground parking is 1.58 acres.

Hasn't different variations of this proposal been around for years?

Yes, though it's actually on the development review agenda. Doesn't mean it will get built but at least it has life.

Building permit (multi-family land development) filed for 510 Sawtell in Southeast Atlanta near the penitentiary. Almost twice the number of parking spaces as apartments.

"Development of the first 14.09 acres of a 39.7 acre former industrial site to demolish the existing buildings and concrete, grade, construct private roads, water lines, sewers, storm sewers, stormwater management, street lighting, and landscaping for a new multi-use residential community. Buildings will be 1-5 stories high with parking decks, 734 apartment units, 47,693 square feet of retail, restaurant and amenity space including a rooftop pool. Parking will be provided for 1,238 cars."

Previously announced as "a master-planned, mixed-use project that will be the largest mixed-use project along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Southside Trail. Located within Chosewood Park at 500 Sawtell Ave. SE, the project’s first phase will feature approximately 700 build-to-rent townhomes and multifamily units."

1138 Peachtree moving right along with filing their SAP.
"SAP application for high-rise mixed-use tower."

Certainly a good sign this may actually happen.

Ive been seeing this new style of planter box on all the new developments in Midtown. Looks interesting.

I also really love that the power lines are underground in front of the Whistler, and across the street at the NCR building. Thanks for the pic!

I've been noticing Whistler and I think it's a nice "cookie cutter" building. It has a small footprint, no obnoxious parking deck and its looks decent.

Agree on all points. Its not remarkable architecturally, but its build quality is nice for what it is, and i love that there is no obnoxiously huge parking deck visible.
