I think weekly updates are more sufficient now, especially over the summer.
Air travel continues to see a slow uptake in flights after the pandemic.

Itl’ll make it easier to determine trends when it’s weekly, also a bit less clutter

In that case I'll continue with them.

I do miss a or two sometimes.

For a bit of reference since March 13, 2020:

The lowest departure count was 5.

The highest to date has been 77.

With AC about to cut YTZ for the summer, I doubt it'll surpass 77 between now and Labour Day.

Was 76 yesterday - assuming nothing cancelled - I think yesterday was the last Flair SFB departure of the season.

That's an idea. Anyone want to scroll back and make a weekly totals chart since the start of the year? Won't be entirely accurate as I do miss a few days here and there.

I like the updates too. It keeps this part of the forum alive. And the community chat for an otherwise empty chat is welcomed too imo. It's a forum, if it has to do with YOW, just talk about it. It's relevant enough and a nice thing to talk about.

While we are at it, would it make sense to have a separate thread for aircraft spotting (aka planespotting) in the Ottawa/Gatineau region (including but not exclusive to YOW) and leave this thread for YOW operations and development (past, current and future)? The question would become which thread should redirections go in (I suspect the new one, but open to either).

Not sure about free, but tools like ExpertFlyer will show you the actual inventory for a flight.

Given it’ll be the only international flight until October, it’ll be easy to calculate the load factor for the first few months from the YOW monthly pax stats…after the fact of course.

Was Swoop slated to service YOW at all this summer or winter? I recall they (at least) did YOW-YEG at one time.

Swoop did YOW-YEG-YXX and YOW-YHZ last summer (the routes WS mainline pulled out of). They eventually dropped the YXX tag, but continued YEG 3-5x weekly.

Neither route was bookable all winter, so the writing was on the wall for the routes from YOW at least.

WS has brought back YEG on mainline metal which is great. And are nearly 2x daily to YVR in the summer. They have a gaping hole out east, but that is their own decision and has been filed nicely by AC (3x daily, with 1x on an A220), Flair (7-10x weekly), and Porter (2-3x daily) all to YHZ. This is on top of Porter offering YFC, YQM, and YYG direct, and YYT with a one-stop-same-plane service to YYT via YHZ.

This is probably meant for the General Aviation Thread but WestJet should have allowed connections between Swoop and WS mainline if they wanted this to work... a la Air Canada & AC Rouge.

But that probably would have been a bad look when Swoop was trying to complete with Flair (read: run them out of business).
