I can clearly see second sister from where I live! This project is really exciting to see.

I just back-read the thread and it's crazy to see discussions about it was just 2 years ago and now the second sister is already taking shape.

It's impressive how adept Lafford has been with construction of this building, as well as his Birch Meadows project. There are many smaller projects around Moncton that seem to have dragged on for ages.

I think the plan is to fill a few floors at time so everyone isn't moving in at once and leases don't expire together. October is leasing 3 floors and they'll probably use one team to complete three floors at time, lease and fill those while they move the team to complete 3 more for the next month.

Interesting perspective of the Three Sisters project from a CBC article today:

One thing I really like about this project is that the retail units are so only accessible from the street. Unlike Junction Urban Village, there there is basically a 5 storey residential tower on top of a strip mall, the 3 sisters fits much better into the urban fabric.

And according to the leasing information, the commercial units will be available in September. That's only 3 months from now!

I don't expect the commercial space in the Three Sisters to lease immediately. There is not much in the surrounding neighbourhood to drive business. I imagine whatever goes in there will be dependent on the 1200 or so people that will be living in the development (at least initially). This is why I suspect we may see an urban food market of some form as one of the initial tenants, and possibly a restaurant and/or higher end coffee shop (La Factrie Coffee Shop just down the street seems to be doing fine).

As the neighbourhood builds out, the commercial space in the Three Sisters will become highly desirable.

Kinda wonder if La Factrie Coffee Shop is considering moving here. Or are they happy right where they are. I see pros/cons on both locations.

Also curious to know if the main floor retail will be a mall type environment or independent entrances for each leaser?

I wish it were two taller sisters instead of three stubby ones... but nice to see some height for Moncton.. even if its on the shorter end.

Stubby to a Torontonian, but monumental to a Monctonian.

Just be patient. We are probably looking at four additional 20 storey buildings in the core in the next 3-5 years.

I'm hoping we get at least two 20 storey buildings but if we get four that would be amazing!

4x twenty
3x fifteen (three sisters)

Moncton will have a proper metro skyline after that

I think your take is accurate. It will be a construction zone for some time which wouldn't be overly attractive for business. A food market, restaurant, and coffee shop would be excellent choices. And the area will only densify as time goes on, meaning a lot more potential customers being fed into the neighbourhood.

@905er got me thinking, the more I look at it, I think the center structure (Big Sister) should be 2 stories higher than the outer two external structures (Little Sisters).

Nice picture. I like how you were able to capture FiveFive Queen in the background between the First Sister and Assumption Place.

Having three buildings of identical height as always a dumb design choice.

The second sister is close to topping out. I think they are on the 14th floor. This building is starting to make a statement on the downtown skyline, just like it's sister.

It's especially noticeable travelling westbound on Assumption Blvd. I can't imagine the change with the addition of the third sister, as well as One Foundry, and the Ashford development. Assumption Blvd will be unrecognizable.

Funny the building looks slightly shorter than the first, but I'm counting 15 floors now.

I drove by again today and did a proper count. Yes, the second sister is now being topped out at 15 storeys. If it does seem a little shorter, I wonder if this is because of a slight variation in grade within the site. The second sister is closer to the riverfront and it would make sense there would be a slight slope from north to south within the building lot.
