Yes, but they’re doing they’re best to fix those living standards. And, thankfully, they’re leading the world in solar capacity, being home to something like 36% of the world’s solar capacity and building 40% of all the new capacity built worldwide recently. When it comes to wind energy, China is even more dominant.
Also, thankfully, India is currently 3rd for new solar production and has also been decreasing their fossil fuel usage. They’ll likely be even cleaner than China when they get to that level of modernization, and it will be driven more by Chinese investment in renewables making the technology affordable than anything we in the West did from a far easier starting point.
