Yeah, it was a sad state of things without a second car that day. Took twice as long and like said, had to ride with a drugged out couple on the same car. Only option worse would have been to ride a bike, but let's not kid ourselves, nobody commutes such distances with a bicycle LOL.

But yeah, downtown New Westminster doesn't look too good these days when you consider it being this bad in the smack middle of the commercial center. Very sad to see.

Weird. I didn't find downtown all that bad yesterday. It seemed pretty lively, and while there were some homeless people around, I saw plenty of people in business attire and couples with kids walking around.

Hey how'd you get your drone to fly above 400 feet? My dji mini 2 doesn't let me do this for regulatory reasons

Really? Sub-250g drones are unregulated, so as long as you're aware of your surroundings, and take full responsibility of your actions and follow the flight rules dictated by NAV Canada, you should be able to fly above 400ft in certain areas.

Having said that, I did have to submit my email, phone number, and DJI account to NAV Canada before I could launch in New West. Maybe it's because I have an advance pilot license that's tied to my account?

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-s...ur-category-drone-operation#micro-drones

For microdrones (sub 250g), its worded as a "good practice" to not fly above 400 feet if I'm reading that correctly, so you can fly above 400 feet it's just not recommended as good practice.

I wouldn't recommend it to most inexperienced flyers. I feel comfortable enough to fly above 400ft if the situation permits it, and always check NOTAMs in the area before flying.

Generally, I stay below 120m when flying though, but with some of these taller construction projects, you've got to get up a little higher to properly capture them.

Seems that only 10 floors left on West tower. Setback to a smaller floor plate is visible.

I noticed one of the cranes, I assume the west tower, from Canada Way just over the crest south of Edmonds. It'll be very impressive if the tower is visible from there peaking over the New West uptown towers.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing.

PS, is that craft beer house ever going to be built on that vacant corner opposite of the Anvil?

No, very stale proposal with the owner of the site apparently holding out to potentially rezone for greater height in the future. A good example of why we need a vacant land tax.

That’s disappointing. I really want to see that intersection’s urban form “completed.”
