Soon to be accompanied by 725 Ponce phase 2 and Portman’s development on Ponce.

And to think some advocate for fast food drive thrus along this stretch.

You can also see the affordable housing in Glen Iris was demolished for the newer housing. Same goes for the corner lot south of Novel O4W

Who exactly are these 'some' advocating for fast food places? I don't recall any members doing so.

I walked by after the Atlanta United game on Sunday and a tree removal ordinance sign is up, but I didn't see anything else.

Where would Teacher's Village be in relation to that photo?

The lot for Teacher's Village is bounded by Cone Street, Walton Street and Ted Turner Drive. In the bottom photo, the new tower would stand on the far end of the block between The Legacy and Centennial Tower.

I have a love/hate relationship with this project. I love the design and what it's bringing to The BeltLine, but I hate that the bank of trees and vegetation that was there was leveled. One of the aspects of the BeltLine I enjoy is the mix of feeling like you're either in a bustling city or out on the Silver Comet Trail in nature. That stretch provided some much-needed shade and visual relief.

I get what you're saying, but i think this section and particularly the intersection of Irwin and the beltline was just too valuable to leave undeveloped.

I would really like if the beltline developed some little plazas and parks, that integrate the beltline into the neighborhoods it passes through.

URBANIZE -- Rep: Teachers Village tower still alive, inching toward construction

Quote:
This month marks a year since a downtown tower concept with a unique focus on educators made news on these pages. Contrary to recent internet rumors, the Teachers Village Atlanta building is not, in fact, under construction right now—nor will it be this spring.

But the project is still very much alive and making progress toward construction, officials tell Urbanize Atlanta this week.

Special Administrative Permit filings in April 2022 showed New Jersey-based RBH Group was planning to build Teachers Village taller than expected (33 stories, instead of 31) but with fewer apartments (427, versus 438).

Yes, please. Would have been nice to see more BeltLine $$$ pumped into smaller scale nooks & cranny parks. Seems odd to have neglected much of that aspect, despite the price tag and size of other adjacent parks.

Would nook and cranny parks be a magnet for homeless? I fully understand the homeless element has severe needs that need addressing, but would little parks be the best cost-effective way to meet those needs as well as the needs of locals? They cost money to procure and maintain. Just sayin'.

Isn't the Beltline full of "little plazas" and "smaller scale nook and cranny parks"? I can think of quite a few areas that have a small greenspace with benches and art, in addition to the many larger parks (O4W, Gordon White, Rose Circle, DH Stanton, Boulevard Crossing, Ardmore, etc).
Here are just a few that come to mind along various parts of the Beltline trail network around different neighborhoods and areas of the city of Atlanta. But we could always use more, balanced with housing density.

Smaller parks make it easier for people to be within walking distance (you know, like the fifteen minute city thing that was mentioned here yesterday). I swear some people just want something to complain about.
