Today’s departure count: 63, including 7 sun flights -the season is just about over, but F8 continues until early June.

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

Speaking of F8, the three cancelled YYG frequencies shifted to additional YHZ frequencies to 9x, YYC got increased to daily and YEG 4x weekly for the summer. YEG and YWG still showing though as becoming seasonal routes only.

Where’s it coming from? Another military charter no doubt.

EDIT: I actually caught a glimpse of it parked at the DND hangar.

On March 22nd AC459 YOW-YYZ a 223 had an incident: https://avherald.com/h?article=507cc88f&opt=0

Quote:
An Air Canada Bombardier C-Series CS-300, registration C-GJYE performing flight AC-459 from Ottawa,ON to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 141 people on board, had just levelled off at cruise FL280 when the crew noticed an unusual odour on board. The crew decided to continue the flight to Toronto and declared PAN PAN.

From anyone’s past experience, is attending the annual public meeting worth it or are they good at outlining the key points after?

YOW-FLL was cancelled yesterday, and then made up today. At one point I saw a Rouge A320 scheduled to ferry in and perform the flight but that got cancelled.

Must be a maintenance issue as YOW-MCO-YOW was cancelled today to be made up tomorrow. Those will be the last Rouge flights of the season , as today was originally the last day of ops.

Looks like YOW-YVR and a 3rd daily YOW-YYC started as well.

If you attend, it gives you the opportunity to ask questions (e.g., have AC said they'll bring back YOW-LHR & FRA once the XLRs arrive?). They probably can't give you a straight answer to that though.

I went once a long time ago. 2006 I think. I found it to be very interesting.

Today’s departure count: 70 or 71 (there a 7000 series AC flight to YYZ - likely a ferry flight), including 1 sun flight - an AC recovery flight to MCO for yesterday

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 3

Also not on the board is TS12 to YYZ - ferry the YOW-based aircraft back to YYZ now that they winter season's over.

Today also marks the start of 4 weeks of 77L service to YVR on AC.

The ferry flight to YYZ is for the last Rouge A319 out once it arrives from MCO -- there was originally a scheduled flight to do this on Sunday but was also cancelled due to the maintenance issue. The plane that had the maintenance issue was ferried back to YUL this morning.

Today also marks the return of YOW-YEG on AC, and YOW-EWR has dropped to 1x daily as opposed to 2x. First 77L on YVR is actually tomorrow, still the MAX today.

You can also register to attend virtually and ask a question using this link if you can't make it in person.

Was able to fly Porter recently over the weekend, and they're starting to fix up their logistical issues between flights to Vancouver. (it wasn't perfect, but we only had minor delays). A great thing is that coming back to Ottawa transiting from Toronto, is that the flight to Ottawa was actually transiting about 15 people of the full flight towards Thunder Bay. Hoping we can start getting the direct Ottawa-Vancouver route soon.

With Porter and AF coming in, I'm hoping Ottawa airport can take this momentum and keep going with this developing it's hub and direct-route capabilities.

Great to hear!

There is a large billboard in the terminal right beside the Maple Leaf Lounge entrance that states: New AF Ottawa-Paris route beginning June 27. A great place to put it too!

On arrival, the banners in the 3rd level rafters visible from the domestic baggage carousels all highlight the new AF route, Porter maintenance base, and new destinations from Porter (they picture their E292 aircraft).

I'm seeing a late afternoon departure (17:00) to ORD on United (E75) beginning in late June and a corresponding early afternoon United E75 from ORD (13:00) to YOW (16:13).

For a period in May and June, the daily to ORD will be on the E75, but when it increases to 2x, the CRJ550 is back on the early morning departure from YOW.

So it appears in July, YOW will see 3x E75 to EWR, 1x E75 to IAD, 1x E75 to ORD, 1x CRJ550 to IAD, and 1x CRJ550 to ORD on United on most days.

TS have released their winter 2023-24 schedule. They have 10 weekly flights scheduled out of YOW to six destinations. They're increasing CUN and PUJ by 1x/week each. I think that's a net increase of 1x/week vs 2022-23 as I think something was cut, but I'm not sure what exactly.
