There's also this weird one in downtown Burlington. The street-facing portion is quite decent, but it has this pedestrianized interior that was always mostly vacant, though that may have changed.

That’s the most beautiful block in Burlington. Have posted it a couple times on other threads as I go there a couple times a year in recent years. I haven’t noticed vacancy. Don’t know how it was in the past.

And another European-esque spot is this place in DT Oakville.

Another one with a mix of styles located in one plaza is Market Lane in Vaughan. Bonus for being across the street from the Humber River.

And this place in Bolton, Caledon.

Here in London, it is usually the Rim Whorton's that are disgusting cesspools. Especially the closer one gets to downtown. There was a time when places like McDonalds would always have an employee working out in the lobby, keeping things clean and keeping an eye on things. QSC+V have greatly declined since the 90s (Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value: George Baldanus would walk through the kitchen, screaming "QSC&V!!!!" when anything bothered him (everything bothered him).

We had theories

It took me about 1 second to make the jump from Bolanis to Baldanus. (I had a reputation, then and now, for coming up with amusing nicknames that would stick, and here, I did not disappoint my fellow coworkers).

He had tons of hair on his short-but-fat (pudgy) fingers. And he the world's most fetid breath (like the breeze from a thousand coffins with decaying bodies).

The guy was basically an asshole, so the moniker fit.

As bad as London's Rim Whoreton cesspools are, what's the probability of having poop thrown at you in one?

Speaking of disgusting bathrooms, the worst ones I've ever encountered were the following:

1) Subway bathroom in Rome with every toilet and urinal overflowing into a 3 inch swamp on the floor

2) Public toilet in Lake George NY as a kid with shit scrawled graffiti all over the walls and ceiling

3) Any toilet in Corfu where the plumbing couldn't handle TP and you had to wipe your ass and put the paper into a basket beside the toilet

4) The third floor bathroom in the Sears I used to work at. Multiple stories about that one. I shudder thinking about the time I saw brown footprints exiting into the store.

^ I remember driving to Alberta a couple of years ago and my wife, who is not especially squeamish, was traumatized by the Walsh rest stop on the Trans-Canada in Alberta

Now that I have hand sanitizer in my car at all times following the pandemic, I only whiz on the roadside where I can breathe the fresh smells of nature while doing my thing instead of dealing with grimy gas stations and Tims locations...

The only exception is Co-op, their gas station washrooms are immaculate. I will always get my gas and snacks there as a result.

gross (as I am eating my leftover pizza). I have gross bathroom stories...scores of them. Pit toilets (toilet paper? Surely you jest! there were corncobs!) and gigantic, overflowing urinal troughs in China. Having to clean shit out of the urinal at McDonalds (did this happen a lot? you betcha!). Revolting bathrooms (a la "Worst toilet in Scotland, from Trainspotting) at some of the dive bars that I frequented in Montreal during my 'wild oats' days. Junkies overdosing in the bathroom of the Subway that I worked at in downtown Vancouver.

Roadside outhouse rest stops like that are a recipe for disaster.

That scene makes my skin crawl. Does Danny Boyle have a thing for people diving into toilets? Slumdog Millionaire was even worse.

My sympathies for having to clean up deuces in the urinals at Rotten Ronnie's. What exactly is a 'pit toilet'? Is it like the hole in the floor bathrooms you find in Europe, or worse? Also, where on earth were you for the corn cob TP? I've never heard of such a thing. Horrifying.

An acquaintance once told me about his trip to India. Said it stood for I'llNeverDoItAgain. Described walls of buildings on the streets that were designated toilets. Reminded me a bit of Russell Peters' description when he got off the plane and realized how Canadian he was.

Anyways, toilets are a necessary evil. The ultimate toilet would be in the Penthouse of Clockzilla looking out the cyclops eye.

B
Re #3, you’ll find a wastebasket beside the toilet in much of CEntral and South America.

I wouldn't call this North York (near Bridle Path) ugly. I could live in this. But there's a couple of curiously placed pieces of wood. And it's funny that there is a gate to a backyard that doesn't have a fence. I wonder if a fence was eventually put in. And curious as to why they didn't do the driveway.

Reminds me of the house three over from mine that just sold for just over a million. A VP for Magna bought it for his son to flip but I heard too much was going wrong so he had to take over and hire some other people to finish it. Almost everything renovated but they left the same microwave. Old ass Magic Chef that turned yellow. I have the same one and it is very much yellow. It's what was here when I moved in and it quit a few months ago. It looked like more work than I wanted to do to replace with new because it's over the range so I picked up the same model (also yellow) for free some someone not far away. Eventually I'll get around to replacing it for $50 used for one that is made of shinier material that doesn't turn yellow. No idea whey Magic Chef used that material that was always going to turn yellow. Anyway, you'd think for a million dollar house, that has been reno'd, they could at least replace the microwave.

Also in North York. This could be called ugly, but I'm okay with this. Perhaps if this brutalist structure was grey concrete then I'd hate it, particularly in the winter.

Why would you replace that beautiful brick with fucking stucco?!? And remove windows. They butchered that house. Some coats of paint and updated wood accents would have been so much better. This looks like a Frankenstein's monster of some shitty house flipper.
