Endeavor wants to build an office building here with retail. A design competition was held last winter and SOM won the bid.

Any further details released? Guessing they can’t go more than 3-4 stories here …

Mid-rise, possible hotel component? This was mentioned to me from a friend who works for a local firm who also made a submission.

Not sure why it’s going by ‘Mill Creek E. Riverside’ as the submission points to this site. 8-stories

they have been tasting the lights on these some nights, and it's really nice as well

There is also lighting incorporated into the new yellow shapes about the entrances.... !
All going to be an incredible improvement !

They took the construction fences down so you can stroll thru now.
You can sen a sense of the connection of space from the Blanton to the Capitol now.
Such an improvement all around!

Two biggest surprises: the Domain is less than 10 miles from the CBD and Atlanta is on fire!

Atlanta really surprised me! Didn't know they had that many towers going up! They'll catch up to Houston at the rate they're going.

Yep. As the crow flies, it's roughly 9.5 miles from Sixth & Congress to Esperanza & Rock Rose.

Rock Rose is definitely the center of action. When Broadmoor gets more projects off the ground, Palm Way at Rock Rose will supplant Esperanza as the primary intersection (if it hasn’t already).

Can't happen soon enough. I'm a big fan of the Domain, but Esperanza is a crappy, non pedestrian oriented road. And Esperanza/Domain Dr is an incredibly 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 intersection.

Do we have a thread for this yet?

Towers: Demolition Pending For El Mercado Building at 17th and Lavaca Downtown

https://austin.towers.net/demolition-pending-for-el-mercado-building-at-17th-and-lavaca-downtown/

Interesting tease in the article -- the lots are owned by RGB Hospitality, which does select service hotels in south Texas. Pretty impressive if this shows up as another hotel. Along with the HGI, the Hampton, Doubletree Suites, The Otis, and the new Graduate, that cluster really just keeps on growing.
