Yes, this has been the rumor for some time. It's just so frustrating for me because there should be an Olympic memorial park with that as a centerpiece. It should and still could be Pioneer Park. Gosh, now I'm frustrated.

With your flight just a few days before the opening of those gates you may still get a peek. They don't take a sledgehammer to the wall the morning of the first flight, they may have the space open sooner. I explored the "West Gates" at LAX two weeks before they "opened" because they had it all ready to go.

A will all be Delta (and international) initially, as I understand they eventually intend to make B all delta and move everybody else to A as more of Delta's passengers are just connecting so walking distances would be more optimized. Even when that happens A will still be mostly Delta as Delta and Delta Connection make up close to 80% of SLC's traffic.

Oh that’s a bummer. I thought Delta got A because of the amount of money they invested. That is also where they have their sky lounge. Will they move that?

I'm not sure where this information about Delta not having all of A is coming from? The plan is very much for Delta (and/or its JV partners) to occupy all of concourse A and a good chunk of concourse B. They are also building a second SkyClub in concourse B as part of Phase 3.

Since the gates that lead to CBP are in A, obviously there will be some exception for the non-SkyTeam international flights, but that's usually handled by A25.

This is the latest information I saw shared in September 2022 and haven't seen anything to indicate a change since then:

I emphasize that what I have is likely old info, but back in the early days of the adding of the North Concourse there was talk of swapping to keep B all Delta because the non-Delta airlines at SLC see a higher percentage of passengers who are originating or terminating their travels at SLC thus giving them a shorter walk on average. I think it makes sense, but plans may have changed, and if they did swap places it would not be until the redevelopment is complete.

No, if this happened Delta would still maintain a significant footprint in Concourse A. That Sky Club is going nowhere as long as SLC is a hub.

I have heard rumors of a possible direct flight between Salt Lake and Seoul Korea with Delta and Skyteam member Korean Air. Anyone else heard this, and if so, when might this happen?

Delta's been teasing it for a while. I know they wanted one of the runways extended to make use of larger planes on long routes, that may be what they are waiting on. They may also be waiting for more gates to free things up a bit, operations are a bit tight as it is.

A Salt Lake City connection with South Korea could prove to be a huge financial plus. My many Korean neighbors love Utah and visit the parks often. South Korea is particularly primed for expanding its business interests beyond California and I think Utah and especially the Wasatch Front would be a top pick for sure. The more the CCP rattles its sabers toward Taiwan the more nervous it makes the South Koreans. I see Salt Lake City as a future draw for the Korean people. South Koreans are very uncomfortable with the CCP and its feudal kingdom of North Korea. They are already a huge presence here in the U.S., especially, in Southern California.

I would be ecstatic to see a thriving K-Town develop in SLC.

University of Utah has a second campus in South Korea with something like 400 students (majority are Korean and will have to spend 2 semesters in SLC). I spent a semester there and my flight out of Seattle was like half from Utah. Most were missionaries connecting through ICN and some others were students going to the U. Faculty traveling for work, students returning for breaks between semesters, families traveling for graduations between SLC/ICN. It would definitely be a significant connection.

Considering Delta just expanded Seattle to 3x a week service to Seoul I'm guessing it will be a while before SLC adds the same service. But who knows.

5 new gates. Later on, they will adding more gates at entire concourse A East in this Fall 2023.
