What I love about this building isn't necessarily the design, but the location. Anywhere in the Loop, and it would fade into the background. But here, it fills a gap perfectly and actually looks pretty cool with the surrounding architecture.
As this building rises, it is increasingly looking like a crowning achievement for Jahn and for Chicago's skyline. If you look at the majority of very tall buildings
which have risen over the past 20 or so years, there is a very understandable erosion-like effect as they ascend toward a narrower pinnacle. This will not be the case with this building.
Instead, this building is looking as if it will visually give a feeling that it is lifting upward - as if it is being held in place by its base and that it could float further up.
The deftness in the upper diagonals on the North and South are brilliant and the play of light makes this building seem dramatic and delicate at the same time. It is like a variable skyline
within itself.
While 50 West in New York is clearly related to this building, that building now appears rudimentary by comparison.
Maybe I won't be so impressed once it is inhabited (because of how people will decorate and break the visual flow), but right now I think most of the large buildings of recent decades are
looking heavy-handed by comparison.
I thought the design looked odd and I am truly surprised by how impressed I am (so far) as this sculptural tour de force rises.

The skip goes up to L50, counting the few floors above that, it looks if if they were about to pour L56 or 57. So still about 16-17 floors to go before t tops out
I absolutely love the contrast in architecture in that last shot Nick - Well done. Another reason I love the location of this building. It offers such an architectural treat to the eyes.
