26th floor is poured, just the mechanical penthouse left before it tops out.

Not completely relevant to this thread, but I moved from Ottawa to Halifax a little over a year ago and find construction painfully slow.

Any idea what the average time is to pour a floor? Seems like projects are flying in Ottawa from what I saw over the Christmas Holidays. It's barely even 1 floor a month here (if even that!)

Soho champagne is averaging a floor every 3 days from what I could see.

It depends a lot on the project from what I've seen and the labour shortage is also affecting nearly every project in the city.

Champagne and this one seem to be moving fast compared to say, Royale, which to be fair, is a much larger project. The Richcraft and Brigil projects on Parkdale also appear to go up pretty slowly.

I guess we will see how that glass 3 story ish crown plays out on this one because there isn't a whole lot interesting about this tower and podium right now. COMEON BABY!!! I need something interesting.

It's not awful?

So far it's just another RLA copypaste, but with flush aluminum panels instead of punchouts in charcoal brick. That's a good thing, like a cold vs a flu, but the roof feature will be make or break for me.

Agreed.

God.. I'm so bitter and cynical lately here. Maybe it's the weather.

It's more likely the fact that Ottawa is a development s***hole run by the Claridge/RLA/Charcoal Brick cartel. One can be in downtown MTL in less time than it takes to watch Shrek 2, but we get a completely different standard of development in this city. The cost for buyers/renters is pretty much the same as MTL/TO, which is the worst part. I'm fed up.

I can't remember which thread I posted in a couple weeks ago but I was amazed (saddened) to see all the high quality designs and materials going up all over MTL (CBD, Vieux Port, Lachine, Cote des Neiges....even in the burbs!). Let's hope we see more designs from M+M, Dream, et al.

As awesome as your photography is around town in Ottawa.. Imagine if a clone of you spent 50% of that effort in Calgary or Vancouver how much stronger the dopamine hits of those photos would be.

I do take a tonne of pictures in Calgary actually! I should post more on here. Also, we need to get together next time I'm there! I go quite often!

On this one, you can see the crown taking shape (building in the middle).

its only redeeming quality IMO is that it adds density near transit and it has a "distinctive crown" at the top. I'll wait for the final product especially the podium but as of right now I think i prefer the brick tower right next to it.

It has turned out very 'meh' for me, but i'll take it every day for a billion years over the brick travesty next door. 1960 Scott looks incredibly institutional to me, like it's actively trying to look cheap to impress taxpayers. This one is just filler.

Harley: I see this building almost every day, from 22 floors up and from the ground, and I still love looking at your photos because it allows me to see it from angles I would never see it from.

Thanks for all your work around town.
