Vesper is almost worse, given that it's a different developer.

The two Hanover twins at least make more sense (although I dislike it) as they could repurpose a good portion of architecture plans from one development to the other. Skyhouse is the same, where the Rainey Street one looks near-identical to Skyhouse apartments in Dallas, Houston, North Carolina, Denver, and elsewhere. The 360 condos is also basically a taller version of a condo building in Atlanta.

Maybe they do look nearly the same? I've thought that the crowns are shaped and oriented in slightly different ways, but maybe it was a trick of the renderings. I guess a better way to put it is, I'm glad they are far away enough from each other that it isn't immediately obvious they are the same building?

Jesus that garage is tacky to the extreme. Looks so awful... we should really have a base set of design standards for all new towers.

I love that garage. It's better than 95% of the rest of them in Downtown, and it's by far the most interesting part of the building.

^^ I love the extremes of those two views...haha. It's a reminder that we all have different tastes even if we largely agree on the general direction that development should take.

It's funny to me how the integration with the old single story brick facade that everyone made a big deal over seems . . . pretty tame. Not only pretty tame, but unremarkable, and a little weird, considering how monolithic the parking podium seems, looming over it the way it does.

I'm interested to see the finished product, and to see humans interact with it. I'm hoping it gels a little bit better in the wild.

I respectfully disagree. Truly no offense intended personally, but that is a very low bar to set for permanent fixtures in a city's core.

I had high hopes for that garage screening. I thought it was an interesting solution from the renderings, but pretty awful in execution. The depth of offset on the layers needs to be 3-4 x what it is. From many angles it just looks flat. And they used too thin of a gauge in the metal panels, resulting in oil canning. I thought oil canning looked bad on highly reflective surfaces, but it is worse when the finish is matte.

Do we know if they are going to paint that brick on the ground floor facade a different color as well? Lot of different things happening visually here....

I agree on seeing the finished product on this one. All my 60 years of looking at skyscrapers has taught me that sometimes the very last finishing touches pull the whole thing together. Sometimes not! I wait to see here.

The brick may be repurposed from or paying homage to the original uship building that was here previously.

Big disappointment, even for a filler tower. I think the solution is tougher design standards for Austin. I love the re-use of the brick, but that's about it. Can't wait to see what they have in store on 4th
