The road closure is for 175 W Cordova so it's for the data centre on the corner I believe.

Vancouver Police confirm new training academy to anchor Woodward's, replacing former London Drugs space

The former London Drugs space at the Woodward’s complex in Gastown will soon be transformed into the new Vancouver Police Department (VPD) training academy, officials announced Wednesday morning during a press conference in the building’s public atrium.
VPD Chief Constable Steve Rai said the new facility will serve as a “centre of excellence” aimed at modernizing training and addressing longstanding capacity and quality concerns with the provincial government’s existing centralized police academy model.
“Modern policing is complex and training requirements are increasing,” said Rai, describing the academy as a strategic “forward-looking investment” in public safety, operational excellence, and community well-being....
The Vancouver Police Museum is moving from the old coroners office on Cordova to Woodwards. Shame to lose the connection to the historical space but one can see their point. The dodginess of the current area just gets wore.

The Vancouver Police Museum is relocating from its longtime home at 240 East Cordova Street to the historic Woodward's building, ending a 40-year presence in the Downtown Eastside.
As reported by Daily Hive, the museum will close at its current address on October 31 before a planned soft opening at the new site in November.
Museum Director Christie Strauss wrote in a statement published on the Vancouver Police Museum's website that the decision followed community and stakeholder consultations.
The most consistent feedback was that the existing location presented too many barriers for visitors.
Accessibility and Location Drove the Decision
The Cordova Street building has no elevator. Visitors encounter a staircase at the entrance, which Strauss noted creates an obstacle for families and school groups.
Parents and teachers told the museum they were not comfortable bringing children through the surrounding block to access the educational programming....
