The Yumi Sushi in Summerside is hit or miss, I’ve gone and it’s been really good and other times it’s been subpar. Hopefully they will have good staffing at the Charlottetown location, because that can help.

Anyone notice how new construction and proposals have come to a crashing halt in the Charlottetown area. Nothing on the city permit page, no new proposals discussed at meetings and no new proposals announced or given approval. No wonder people are leaving because they can't find place to live. With no new developments announced it looks bleak this summer.
I hope some developer takes ahold of the new city plan to allow higher buildings to help with sprawl. We'll see!

The silence you're hearing is happening everywhere. Fredericton and Saint John have been very quiet. Moncton has slowed down a lot. Almost nothing in the rurals and small towns. So it's not just you.

There's a big backlog of previously approved projects waiting for any, any contractors and/or tradespeople to become available. It is very frustrating. This is having a chilling effect on developers who are, as a result, delaying plans that they might have in the pipeline.

In Moncton's case (at least), there are also multiple projects in the pre approval phase where the proponents are working with city planning, but they are not quite ready yet to present their proposals to PAC (still crossing t's and dotting i's).

It has been at least a year since we have had a really exciting project presented to PAC in Moncton (except for 1333 Main, which has since ground to a halt in NIMBY hell).

I do notice one thing being started, is the second of two apartment buildings, the first is long completed and fully occupied, behind the mall on Towers Rd. Some land prep and runoff barriers are in place but how long the start date is, who knows.

Residential I think is gonna still be crazy for a bit. Even with interest rates quite high. At work just myself I have close to 20 house loads of windows on order and that was people just trying to do the winter booking.

It sucks because there is whole area of the city that are exactly like the western part of down town Moncton, and should be densifying like Moncton is.

Almost all of the single family homes in the blocks between Great George, Grafton, Cumberland and Water could be replaced with high density apartments. Obviously some houses that are of historical or architectural significance you would save, but for the most part, most of the houses in this area aren’t significant. The same goes for the blocks between Sydney, Haviland, Water and Queen.

I’m actually surprised that the area between University, Pond, Spring Park Road, and Euston hasn’t seen more densification, being outside the 500 lot area. Also surprised we’re not seeing more developments like we’re seeing in Moncton along Twin Oaks Drive or Millennium Blvd but instead we’re continuing to see single family sprawl. There is lots of space in West & East Royalties for a significant urban style development.

There has been a lot of activity behind Simmons rink as the site prep for the replacement rink continues. I often wondered if they should have used the Canada Games money to build this. Instead they built a new rink with an Olympic sized ice surface way out in North Rustico which will never match the usage the Simmons rink is used. Simmons is used year round and I think they spent the money in the wrong place. If they wanted really good value, replace the Cody Banks rink using CG money and use the money allocated for Simmons to replace it as they are. Voila, two new rinks for the city.
On another note, maybe rinks aren't the things we should be tieing up workers on at this time during housing shortages.

I would love to see some new apts/condos downtown. I did notice the old Irwin printing building at the bottom of Richmond just sold it is a very narrow long lot. I think the Flourish Group that owns most of the Needs and the Fox Woods subdivision in Stratford owns the land beside Tim Banks town houses by the Towers mall. I did notice them town houses were like 565-599 + hst now they are asking close to 650 all in. I honestly feel like they are gonna be a hard sell. If they were closer to down town at that price maybe but not where they are.

Sherwood Crossing, not a hard sell at all! This is from an earlier listing, several more have been sold since then. As I've said before, "built it and they'll come!".

Wow I honestly can't believe people bought them up especially at the price they are asking. The Irwin printing building has now been tore down. I wonder what will go there

Sherwood Elementary School

A few delays but construction on the new Sherwood Elementary School is ongoing. More steel is yet to go up.

Starbucks is open in Stratford and there is a lineup. They couldn't make a go of it in Summerside but Stratford should be a better spot for this pricey coffee shop.

Both downtown locations closed. One closed years ago, the last closed during the pandemic. There’s a Starbucks in West Royalty, and a location in Superstore. Unsure if UPEI had a location, I think they did once upon a time.

Do answer your question: 2 full locations in Charlottetown CA, 1 location in Superstore.
