I took this photo last night. Not the best quality, but it really puts into perspective the height of the building compared to anything else west of Burrard and south of Robson.

yup. i have heard and seen enough of their work over the years to know i wouldnt get anything from them. eek.
Two sides of the coin for me. Westbank tends to really push the design envelope so if you're not a buyer / owner, their buildings have certainly added a lot to our skyline, Butterfly, Vancouver House, Woodward's with many more to come, Oakridge and Sen̓áḵw to name two.
I have a close friend / colleague who has a high-floor large suite in Vancouver House so I've followed their saga in detail and would want no part of it.
I think a six floor building like this should be allowed in almost any neighborhood in the city, and especially along arterials and close to Skytrain stations.

Totally agree! in Burnaby they build 1-2 a year of those along Hastings... it should be 5-10 a year...then there is a business case for LRT to SFU (if possible of course, do not think the grade will allow)

In Vancouver, I don't think there are many arterials that don't allow an application to build a 6-storey social housing building. The streamlining rental and other new policies to encourage rental buildings have seen a lot of four, five and six storey market rental buildings submitted as well.
I think we lost the floor count, this must be the roof line concrete pour for tomorrow. Maybe Ian Gillespie told them to add a floor and don't tell anybody .
