There's probably a steady demand for the Windsor-Detroit service. Amazon is on its own out there and doesn't have the steady stream of potential passengers to justify running a service out there. Shift changes aren't going to cut it. This is also why the limited to non-existent transit into London industrial parks.

I don't think the civic boundaries matter, St Thomas Transit was running a service into White Oaks Mall, and other local regions have limited service coming into the city as well. I just think it's a matter of sustained demand and lack of resources to offer a limited service that far away.

I never said they couldn't do it, of course they can. It is patently obscene that there isn't any transit between the two cities. That doesn't change the fact that LT cannot run service into another jurisdiction without it being authorized.

Ideally the service would be run by LT which has the capability of doing so and should go downtown to downtown via Talbotville. It could be transfer free with St.Thomas transit and an extra fair for St.Thomas users going past Talbotville ie entering London. St.Thomas/Elgin would have to provide any needed subsidy required to run the service.

I think you are thinking too much about boundaries here. I can take a cab anywhere without the cab driver seeking permission to operate in the area I'm going to. He can't then pick up another fare and go elsewhere in that region though. I imagine the same is true for transit systems. LTC can go to Talbotville and back to London, they couldn't go from Talbotville to St Thomas without arrangements. I think the only dialogue they would have might possibly be with St Thomas Transit about coordinating times at Amazon if there was a desire to connect there. Nothing in the stories about St Thomas transit running to White Oaks Mall indicated they needed permission to London.

City council better get their 🞵🞵🞵🞵 together and get their pencils sharpened up. 3.9% isn't going to fly in the current high inflationary times were in right now. It's time for them to get back to basics, start cutting fluff and frills that they continuously seem to creep in the budget.

LFP article on the update to the 4 year strategic plan for the city.

Good reminder that in our last municipal election only 1 out of 4 eligible voters even bothered to cast a ballot.

Well not surprised, considering this is a 'newish' building. Has it been standing for at least a decade or so now?

Yeah, but the physical building has been standing far, far longer. Remember, this place was being built, then got paused for some time, and then they finally completed it. It took almost 5 years. So that building is already around 6 years old basically.

Story on the lack of attendance at advisory committee on planning and heritage. I suspect the same happens with the other advisory committees as well. Given their agendas I'm not sure what value they add.

In a textbook example of the strong leadership the TVDPS Board Trustee's were elected to provide they decided to kick the can down the road and make no hard decisions. Classic!

Debate on ending remote work for city staff stalls. I must be missing something given the comments that staff working from home are not available to do their duties. What does that mean? Are they slacking off and walking the dog, out shopping? Working from home means you are supposed to be working online on a laptop and attending meetings on the phone or via web conferencing and answering your corporate cell phone. Availability should be the same irregardless of whether you are in a cubicle at City Hall or your home office.

Personally I do not understand how people work from home in a full time capacity, certainly there is value at times where you can be more productive working on certain tasks but you also lose a lot of that daily interaction with people.
I think companies are finding that some employees are taking advantage of the situation and are less productive, were as some people are more productive...the issue is how do you weed out those people, its more complicated.
