Agreed. That shape of the reveal at the entrance is very similar to their recent Toronto project, and the interior render has the similar vaulted feel.

Very excited for another rooftop restaurant (reno'd Four Seasons building being the other one), not to mention a new outdoor hotel rooftop pool for Vancouver!

Ace Hotel lounge was one of my favorite interior design / architecture visits in that city.

Wow 578 is an absolutely massive hotel. My guess is they will break it up somehow, possibly into a medium term stay concept with a traditional hotel concept.

The small office space at the top is curious as well, might be a component of a medium stay offering.

They took down the hydro poles along Hamilton in Yaletown yesterday.
The whole area looks tremendously better.

Great shots, thanks.

The funny thing is that the poles were once thought to add to the character of the district.

I love how bulky this one is! We need more massive buildings in the Downtown core.

Has this been posted before? https://nonni.com/properties/888/

It's an existing 2-storey heritage office building. Haven't seen or heard of any applications, so the highrise design might just be conceptual at this point.

Yeah just conceptual, in the photos they also have a 6 storey office addition design along with the high rise residential.

The residential tower doesn't make sense, as there's no setback from the adjacent parcels, unless they also own those.

The adjacent properties aren't listed on their site, I take it they don't own them. Though I'm sure Nonni could afford to scoop them up after selling 510 Seymour last year.

I would be nice if there was more of an office node in the area.
There's already the Law Society Building, podiums of The Smithe and Raffles, former Pivotal Building, and the warehouse buildings.
I think the vertical addition on the former ticket reseller on Beatty may also be office space.

Yaletown is looking pretty good these days. I'm genuinely surprised how much of an improvement removal of the hydro poles make. If I'm not mistaken, at one time the hydro poles in the area were H-frames, like in many commercial laneways downtown. If I'm correct, I could see how these running down the centre of Yaletown's streets could be interpreted as an interesting historic curiosity and an example of the historic commercial-industrial character remaining. But if they were just vertical wooden hydro poles, then I'm at a loss to understand the historic significance.

They weren't H-frames, but the infrastructure was indicative of the industrial past (ie not prettied up).

Wow, thanks for sharing! That's a major improvement indeed. I never realized that all the utility companies have already fully undergrounded their conduits in Yaletown.

Not sure if this flythrough of 1055 Harwood has been posted. Open house going till end of March.

https://youtu.be/9Gjj1d60M9Y

These videos / concepts are getting so good. Great looking infill project. Hopefully the finishings are as high end as depicted (curtain wall, fritted glass...)

Similarly, here's 1065 Pacific which is kitty corner i think: https://youtu.be/u-QFV2XG3pA

Ah yes, such an important landmark that absolutely can't be improved upon. Gotta love how arbitrary heritage retention is
