I am not sure if this has been posted yet but as of last week the 1st of the 2 ramps to be removed at the North End of the Granville bridge was closed to traffic (the eastern of the two ramps/the "to pacific blvd" one) ... the other ramp is still in use but I imagine its hours are short.

The application for the Hotel Georgia building is now online. 264,000 sq ft 17 storey of office with a small retail unit. Architects are the same as the Chateau Laurier addition.

Rendering has a Prada downstairs

Seeing the additional renderings I think it does a good job of hiding behind the building fairly well when you look at the hotel from Burrard.

Not good from Robson Square imo. Obscures it too much

Lots of cool stuff in there - including a turntable!

Note that it's all commercial hotel functions (no guest rooms), retail and office space - no condos!
Note the new (?) swimming pool on the 2nd floor in the lightwell of the hotel - which will be in permanent shade.

Agreed that the mechanical levels do block out the hotel from the south (see the 4th set of pics below).
I wonder if they could make the Burrard side taller and lower the height of the Hornby side?
(i.e. giving preference to the view from Robson Square)

What a hideous monstrosity. UDP has the perfect opportunity to for once do the right thing on this one.

Hotel Vancouver is such an unique building that deserves to be seen from all directions. I would be happy to see a faux imitation of its style here rather something like this.

Aren't UDP the ones who want the distinction between heritage elements and new sections? No different from the RBC tower on West Hastings which they didn't seem to oppose in any way.

Considering that the hotel's backside is clad in a different type of "ugly" stone, I would say it was actually only ever meant to be viewed from three directions.

I like how the stepped-form of the office building compliments the hotel. I am also glad the office will stop below the hotel's copper roof.

I, for one, am glad the hotel's grandeur won't be cheapened by another half-heartened imitation like Cathedral Place.

Office cladding materials look great. Wish they had a materials sheet. Only critique would be to eliminate 1 floor off the top or step it a bit on the east side to not hide the roof as much as you can

Such a boring design. Random glass boxes is such low effort architecture.
