I think I count 26 floors on the right tower, project must be almost topped out then.

When it looks like it's just about the exact same height as every other building in the neighbourhood, then we know it's topped out

Not even the sales website has any renderings near to reality...

Claridge doesn't play by the same rules as all the other developers. Another developer proposes something and it's publicly discussed down to the finest detail, even the placement of a bike rack or a colour of a trim. Claridge can build what they want when they want, and the public doesn't know what it will look like until it's finished.

Reminds me of when they proposed Claridge Icon. They wanted 42 floors and the City said, "hey, why not build 45?". Mind boggling how Mastercraft-Starwood had their 35 floor Italia reduced by the City to 30 floors, but just across the street, the City generously gave an unsolicited extra 3 floors to Claridge.

60 stories "proposed" on the CIBC lot directly across the street and right next to SOHO. Interesting to see how it pans out.

That East facing wall is going to be a nasty slab of CharcBeige. Driving down Rideau heading West is ugly as all hell.

I guess I will also point out that I walked along Rideau in front of the Claridge Royale block last night and the entire section was unlit. Combine that with all of the scaffolding/planking being black and it was just a miserable and frankly unsettling walk through a dark tunnel. Compare that to the development at James/Bank which not only is lit but is built with what looks like shipping containers and lined with carpeting.

Don't want to beat the Claridge drum too much but I can't think of anything they do particularly well, even down to simply making the sidewalk an enjoyable experience as they work above.

Claridge does as Claridge wants. We are at the point now where we have no idea what they are building until it's built. This is wrong. Royale and the new development on the Flats have zero public input/exposure.

Wow, it's true from that view that it looks especially bulky (even though it's quite thin from the Rideau Side.

I'd rather have that big wall there (which will end up being covered eventually when the LCBO lot gets redeveloped) than having that long tall wall along Rideau Street.

I was going to give props to Claridge for not building the tower on the lot line however, they didn't really have a choice to ensure.. you know... windows in the units.

Hoping RIMAP proposes two point towers for the LCBO site. Maybe even push for a little more height. It's such a prominent corner in Ottawa.

I will say that there were lights on in the tunnel tonight.

You don't really know when a Claridge project is topped out until you can visually verify it, because they don't build what they showed the public any more

It varies. On Icon, they stuck with the design but half-assed and and used cheap materials. Moon is an exact match to the renderings. This one has some rough similarities, but overall quite different (in a good way, stangely).

True, although we know the sky will fall if we build anything taller than 27/28 stories on Rideau, so the chances of them surprising us with 30+ stories here is slim to none.

If anyone could do it without the City batting an eye, it's Claridge.

But no, never going to happen.
