Interior design of the hospital

Looks like a third grader designed it.

Well it is a hospital and not somewhere people actually want to hang out. From my time (as a visitor) at VGH and Royal Columbian that actually looks nicer than what's there now - they're pretty utilitarian places for obvious reasons.

Having a different bright colour for the different levels of parking is a good idea.

^Looks like just the a central courtyard, not the functional parts of a hospital.

And remember to properly credit images.

Found more pictures and fixed. Those are clearly functional parts of the hospital

I would argue that more care should be spent on making the interior of hospitals look nice specifically because it's a place that people don't want to hang out.

I've always thought that the sterile and depressing architecture and interiors of our hospitals probably actively hinder people's recoveries. The environments around you can have a huge impact on your mental state, and could easily increase people's feelings of hopelessness and despair

The nurse's station, inpatient rooms, and internal corridors look pretty similar to me.

Yes, the design has to favour function over fashion as you've indicated. Any extra nooks and crannies, carpets, even rough-texture surfaces (such as wall or ceiling treatments) are complications when it comes down to cleaning and maintenance.

I was referring to the elementary artwork in reference to the the art on the walls. If that's the best they can come up with I would just prefer blank walls.

Hospitals definitely need to be functional first, and part of that is being able to clean/sterilize everything. The materials they can use are pretty limited.

Just a minor update

Quote:
In March, we completed pouring concrete on the main floor, and now crews are building decks and pouring concrete on the second floor. By the end of April, the concrete floor on Level 2 should be complete and work will begin on the third floor!

To ensure our construction teams are being good neighbours, PCL Construction started hosting quarterly updates with the Strathcona Residents Association and the False Creek Residents Association, providing them with presentations and overviews of the upcoming activities. But, since our neighbours have only seen and heard the activity from afar, it was time for them to join us on the ground.

On a recent sunny morning, PCL and Providence led residents from neighbouring buildings and the Strathcona Residents Association on a tour of the new hospital – an exciting opportunity for the group.
