IIRC Yoke Group was leading the previous attempt to renovate it. Not sure why they stopped and if it's flipped ownership since. They seem to be focusing on their 11 Robert St project now.

It probably sat for too long - there may be structural issues now..

There was a fire in there a few years ago and the roof was ripped off and never replaced at least 5 years ago so yeah, its not in great shape.

That fire was in early 1998. It has been vacant that long!

I believe I've said this before, but Yoke Group seems to barely be able to move anything forward. They also have that dilapidated house on King St that I don't know if they own anymore or not. As they are behind 11 Robert, I don't have faith it will ever happen.

Thats not the one I was thinking of, this was far more recent. 2020 I think.

Framing has begun on the black grid pattern facade on the King/Hughson corner.

Awesome, I was really hoping they were going to stick to the renders and incorporate that element.

Topping off now. Black balcony cladding as shown in the renderings is starting to be installed - this is going to be a giant, dark monolith.

Isn’t it going to be alternating black-white? I think with that it should avoid being too monolithic. Actually would give something more interesting than just one colour.

About 6 fire trucks on King St and 1 on King William. One truck had their ladder deployed but didn't see any water
Hamilton Fire twitter says structural fire.

I like the fact they are taking the time to paint the underside of the balconies - so many places don't.

And I guess that answers the question of whether they had dropped that detail from the final result.

The tarp covering is down from the KingWilliam side and the scaffolding is being taken down. You can get a look at some of the brick and stone facade through the scaffold. From what I saw this morning it looks very handsome.

noted before, but the glazing on the red/orange brick podium section does not appear (to me) to match rendering. Maybe i am missing something, those glass panels look to be full floor height

I am looking at it from king William as I write and it looks amazing!! The brick work and the cornices are truly beautiful and pay respect to some of the older neighboring buildings ... this area will definitely turn heads when done

I just hope they change the design somewhat of the part that fronts onto king - cuz the render makes it look AWFUL.
