(The cleaning is not completed, they worked the top of the structure from 6am to 3pm)

Seems like they'll be back on Feb 4/5 around the same times. Must be nice to drive by and get your car showered with bird droppings

I forget did someone say they were doing additional work on those masonry piers over the bridge? There is some cracjed concrete/rebar that was never touched during those repairs.

Hopefully we get a proposal soon for the "Whole Foods" apartment building (1675 robson)
It's taking up so much space if you include the parking lot
and way more density and storefronts can be added to that plot of land.

This seems like a major set back for Blockbuster reopening their store on this site.

The West Pier was cleaned on Saturday and it don't look healthy.

The East Pier was not pressure washed on Saturday, it might have some issues.

Terrace House Coal Harbour

Today, walked by this site and remembered reading of it (long time ago) on this thread, well it's still under wraps.
There were two workers on site this morning.

Finally someone at city hall speaking about the impact of view cones and shadowing:

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/vancouver-mountain-view-cones-shadowing-review

Some quotes:
During Mayor Ken Sim’s first annual “State of the City” address to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade on Tuesday afternoon, he said his ABC Vancouver party majority in City Council would look into making adjustments to both view cone and shadowing considerations.

The forthcoming review on both types of restrictions to building heights is intended to be part of a broader analysis of all the barriers to generating new housing. ...

“We need to change the question where we don’t come up with 600 reasons why we don’t do something. Instead, the question should be how do we get to ‘Yes’ if it’s a project that makes sense. What do we need to do to make this happen? How can we make your business or opportunity succeed in this city? These are the questions we should be asking, and that’s the culture I want to build in the City of Vancouver.”

Ken Sim is the BEST mayor we had as far as I can remember!

he is saying all the right things, we will see what the CoV looks like in 4yrs. it will be interesting because he is vastly different from the previous 2 mayors we had since 2008.

maybe some of those idiotic "unwritten" polices will get killed. or that one that killed a few floors of a building because it caused 12min of shadow over an area of a park already in the shadow of the large tree coverage.

Do I smell an ABC move to protect "character neighbourhoods"?

How do you figure? I can't wait to see the council response to the city-wide quadra/hexplex proposal.

4 units and 1 FSR seems pretty such status quo from today's duplex with 2 rental suites. But I'll wait until 2024 to see where it ends up

I have a feeling he had this announcement in time for the Sinclair Center?
He might already know it could be Vancouver's tallest or encouraging it to be.

There's a pretty big difference between 1.0 FSR and 0.7 FSR (which the duplex zoning is). So you get 4 units at 1000 sq foot each vs 2 units at 1400 square foot each. That's a pretty big jump up.

What really will be interesting to see is what will happen on the west side, where there are a lot of 50' lots that will allow 6 units. Given the desirable location and the greater number of units allowed, I think we will see a lot of movement there.

That sounds like an invitation to developers to start proposing projects well in excess of height restrictions that have already been laid out by the last council.

East of Main Street in Mt. Pleasant has no view cone restrictions, yet there is a paltry 300' limit on towers. I hope developers start proposing buildings much taller than 300'. Shadowing concerns make no sense when there is going to be towers everywhere.
