For those not old enough to remember, which I assume means most everyone else on this forum, the NBC peacock was originally introduced during the transition from black-and-white to color television to announce that the program about to be broadcast was in "living color":

Which is why I didn't say that they misappropirated the NBC Peacock.

Still, if you're going to use the symbol of "living color" as your corporate logo (see my post above on the NBC Peacock's history), then the least you could do is bring a bit of occasional color to your skyscrapers' lighting!

I want to give TK a shoutout for this good article about unbuilt high-rises in Philly.

My favorite one out of the list is the Philly World Trade Center, im so upset it wasn't built, that skyscraper with the globe at the top would have been used for so many movie shots it would have been insane.

I caught these lights on the tower at 5:04 PM yesterday, they didn't even stay on for a minute. But these lights are very bright, they stood out greatly while sunlight still flooded the cloudy sky. Last month I caught only one strip of these lights from the Live! so hopefully Comcast 1 is actually getting an upgrade

Ok, I was just informed by a worker that the lights are being upgraded and are not even halfway done. But they will have the ability to change color!

Good to see someone with a different vision putting their money with their mouth is- this is how you get change (if you believe it's necessary)- not simply by talking and complaining about who is on council. I find it fascinating that for all the gentrification that has taken place and with all the demographic changes in many areas how few new supposedly enlightened people actually step into the arena and try to challenge any of the politicians who are allegedly leading their districts (and thus city at large) in the wrong direction. Unless more people are prepared to put skin in the game and run or supporting others who will run to challenge folks there will be no significant change in the diversity of views on Council. Where are the challengers in other rapidly developing districts? Who else is going to get off the sidelines and make a serious attempt to get into City Hall?

For sure this is encouraging. I don't think Gauthier is as bad as Brooks and Gym, but it's good to see people coming out of the woodwork to challenge these incumbents.

well this will be a test to see how the actual voters feel about some of these issues. At the end of the day, it's their call. One thing is for sure, if there are no altenatives on the ballot its pointless to go on and on about how backwards, anti business and inept people on council are- if things are that bad there should be folks running. Still waiting for the gentrified class in center city, south philly, NL, etc. to get in the game and go for some of these seats.

It has no access to Broad Street Line, no Patco access and only 76/676 nearby. The NJ transit AC line does go to 30th but it's not really viable for getting people in and out because of how slow/few stations in NJ. Also this is across the street from 3 floor rowhome neighborhoods like Mantua and Powelton Village which have small streets. It's just so totally different than wide streets like Market Street that can handle the foot traffic/car traffic.

You're forgetting the regional rails (which connect out to Trenton), MFL (which has free interchange with the BSL) and all of the city's trolleys. It's about as connected as it can be. Also, the 76 traffic should largely be coming from 76, not from Mantua and Powelton Village, which would be further from the stadium than Chinatown and it's small streets are, so not sure if that would be an impacting factor.

Not that this would happen, but it would have been as good a location, if not, better, than Market East. It's extremely connected and it would fit into the long term plans for that area fairly well.
