January has been beautiful. Two overnight lows below -20C and only -20.8 for the lowest. Very few days with a high below -10C as well.

But, February is looking like an absolute tyrant right now. Looking like at least two weeks of highs below the normal lows starting on Saturday.

Running an errand near the Avalon Mall. This snow isn’t going anywhere anytime soon despite all the rain overnight and today.

No snow in ~ a month or more.

Thankfully there appears to be some coming at the end of the week... along with COLD.
Did my day trip down to Lake Louise yesterday. Wind was kicking pretty good and there was snow falling at higher elevations but not much.

Fuel economy on the car was showing 6.5/100 down to Calgary. then toward Banff mileage dropped to 7.9/100. Yah it was windy.

Thankfully the road were in great shape. Driving was easy. Left home at 7:06 am got back at 7:09 pm and still had 3 hours on site. Lets hope the weather holds a few more days. I have to be back down at the end of the week.

Edmonton got a light dusting of snow rain mix last night. no real accumulation. Its been a month since we had any real snow.

I hope we get some good snow soon. For fatbiking. Some of the trails are a big mess now, rutted out and need fresh snow. A few more good dumps then we can start the melt and get spring on.

Cloudy and 5 at 1:30pm. High earlier of 6 degrees. Got about 10-15 mm of rain overnight, a bit less than expected. Snow cover is about half of what it was yesterday. The bulk of the snow could be gone by the end of the week with more rain and warm temperatures coming in, but the piles from the snow will be around for a bit.

It is currently sunny and 1.5 degrees, low this morning was -2.2 as we continue to hover around the freezing mark this week. The tiny bit of snow we had is melting quickly, but should be more than replenished tomorrow. Next week is looking very cold, so that snow should stick around for a couple weeks.

Rain erased much of Friday's snow in Halifax, but the winds switched to northerly through the night and we got a dusting of frozen snow, bringing back the 'white snowy' appearance that we lost. No more than a cm or so, though.

More seasonal highs and lows for the next day, and then another rain/wind system coming through on Thursday with a high of 10C, 30-40 mm of rain (with totals up to 50 mm in some areas) and wind gusts up to 70 to 90 km/h.

Finding the trails that are rutted out are from Guys who don't know how to descend feathering their brakes. But yah we could use some more snow. My drive to LL yesterday I noticed the snow cover in the fields is quite low for this point in the winter. If we don't get much more the spring may be a fire fest again.

Just go back to the office from a local project site. Pretty warm, but we have the vortex coming so we have that to look forward to.

Sorry for jinxing it.

I don't think Ottawa has gone below -20 yet this winter.

There, I jinxed us too.

Rondeau Bay, usually you would see ice fishing huts out there in late January

Have people become weak and mollycoddled over the years. You would think it is a 50 cm blizzard coming or is it that people in the GTA just wished that winter would go away or just occur on the ski slopes. Sure you should probably not drive if you don't have to but the media sure does like to hype the impact of these storms.

Yep. First snowstorm coming tomorrow. We've had a couple storms, but this is the first true snow event.

We had a skiff of snow fall this morning. This was this evening.

I really like the pic of the mist in the fields with the wind turbines, Flar. Looks very west coast winter like.

Up to 2C today. We had a little bit of sunshine this morning for a couple of minutes so that was nice. Otherwise it was overcast.

Low of -2C (wind chill of -7) last night.

The warmspot was Cumshewa Island, BC at 12.6C.

Warmest low was Kindakun Rocks, BC at 7.2C.

"Scotch Mist"

Just in time for Robbie Burns Day eve.

The earlier part of the day was nice enough but then by mid-afternoon a veil of very light misty drizzle descended on downtown Vancouver.
It was so light it just kind of floated around. Not quite enough to make you wet so I couldn't decide whether to keep my umbrella up or down.

Tuesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 6 C, the low was 5 C.

Mild winters happen, and they will happen more often. But yeah acting surprised when you get snow in January is kinda idiotic.

Rain and wind warnings for Halifax tomorrow. Winds up to 100 km/h, rainfall up to 70 mm. Looks like all of the Atlantic Provinces are in for some of it, whether it be rain, snow, and/or wind.

Nice sunny day today, though, with temps currently in the -3C range, and RH around a comfortable 60%, plus or minus.

Just another day on the east coast...

It's a snow day, we have 3cm of snow. Currently 0.2 degrees, the low was -0.8 degrees. Forecast is still saying 15cm by end of day. School buses are cancelled, as they are every time it snows
