Nope your still acting the same way. You were asked to stop derailing the thread and you continue to do it.

Socialist have always been saying Canada is becoming fascist or already is. Anyone that doesn't agree with them is a fascist to them. It was like that when I was in school and i see they haven't changed at all They are still privliged people complaining about how hard it is here..... Guess what, we're still not fascist. If anything our society has moved to the left.

It's not happening in Manitoba. Sasketchewan is not representative of all Canadian society. Socialism has never worked and will never work. Socialism is just as much of threat as fascism. There are plenty examples of this.

You admit you have made personal attacks and now expect us to take you serious? You were asked to stop derailing the thread and you keep doing so. I tried to stay out of it yesterday but at this point your just a troll.

Well I suppose as long as human motivation (including economic motivators) is essentially "fear-based", the temptation to hoard and control resources vital to human existence (in other words, "wealth") will be overwhelming to many.

FYI I don't count "wealth" as simply having "stuff". I don't think having "stuff" is necessarily bad if it gives you joy and you don't let it control your life. Of course, I say that because I don't know of anyone who particularly wants to have my "stuff". If someone walked into my home and asked me for my vintage board games or my collection of schlocky movies on DVD I'm sure I'd be outraged and say "mine! mine!". Life without my Battling Tops game is too scary to consider.

Good point, and I would add the perception or expectation of scarcity. How often have oil prices skyrocketed because investors were afraid there "might" be a shortage based on international events, weather phenomenon or a worker in an oil refinery coming down with a cold?

Dude, it’s happening. I’m not the only poster/person who sees it coming. Come visit Saskatchewan for a weekend, and I’ll show you it first hand.

For Canada as a whole, the country is obviously not in any danger of losing our democratic rights. However, it's of great concern what is happening in the United States, considering we often copy their social politics. I'm very concerned about the GOP, and the eradication of some women's rights, as well as the anti-Transgender backlash. Meanwhile, the income gap is continuing to widen. History tells us that if it gets too wide, political chaos will occur.

I see this in the UCP. The Premier Danielle Smith flirts with separating from Canada, and has some bats-hit insane ideas. It's got so bad here, that I am actually praying for an NDP election win this year- something that I ahve never done in my lifetime.

The Sask Party does it, the UCP does it, the federal Cons do it (PP is really ramping up his tired and boring rhetoric with this recent embarrassing rant), and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Manitoba PC’s are doing it (make no mistake though, Canadian conservatives consume American politics and the obsession about “wokeness” is here too). It’s always someone else’s fault and not at all the fault of their wealthy donors nor the economic system they seek to conserve. It’s why the left, in this case the Manitoba NDP, needs to focus on broad economic policies and ignore getting sucked into the culture war. Ensuring everyone has their material needs being met will take care of both social and economic justice.

Why does Pierre Poilievre telling the truth bother you so much? The most divisive prime minister this country has ever had is Justin Trudeau. When almost 70 churches were burned and vandalized across the country last year, Trudeau didn’t call out those people as a fringe minority. He sympathized with them. Every Catholic Church across this country was in fear. He didn’t give a fuck about them, but imagine they were burning mosques? Trudeau would never have shut up about it. A few truckers protest their right to work and they’re all “Nazi terrorist uneducated hick kkkonservative racist wife beaters who are Trying to overthrow the government” imagine controlling the narrative like that. You had a federal government allowing vaccinated people, who were 100% responsible for spreading and bringing variants into the country by travelling internationally for pleasure, but you’re denying unvaccinated truckers from crossing the border for work, because they might spread the virus. If you cannot see how stupid that is, god help us all. But you go on spreading your own brand of hate and divisiveness based on your illusion of inclusion. Also… Why do spend so much time in the Manitoba politics page… Worry about your own province before bringing your shit agenda to mine.

The left is just as guilty of causing division in the US. I agree we should avoid copying any political trends that come from the US. wether it be leftist or right wing ideas. There won't be any kind of civil war in the US though. You mentioned that earlier, not sure if you were joking or not but that won't happen. Maybe some civil unrest but now civil war. The right has all the guns, the left is more concerned about being gender neutral. Wouldn't be much of a fight.

Anyways these thread has been derailed enough.

You’re labeling me as xenophobic now. Lol. Yup keep the divisive labels coming. You want to talk about wab kinew? I wonder how his ex girlfriend he dragged down the hall by her hair feels every time he’s on the news. Or the East Indian cab driver that he beat the shit out of, I wonder how he feels seeing his assaulter sitting so high up. Or I remember the reporter asking about his homophobic comments, and wab telling him he could buy his book and read his apology in there. What a shit human being, That’s what I think. Am i being unfair. Wab kinew worked as a correspondent for the cbc during the crisis in attiwapiskat. He openly mocked the children of that community on Twitter. Laughing about their horrible living conditions. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, just like Trudeau.

Manitoba | Provincial Politics

Since the other one has descended into a soapbox for some folks, how about a reboot on the chances of the NDP to return, the Conservatives to remain or the Liberals to become relevant.

NDP control Winnipeg and the North they win simple as that.

Well the last poll I saw had the NDP in front of the PC's by 11 points. Stephenson has had some major cabinet shuffles to do as a large number of Conservative MLA's have announced they will not be back for the next election. The premier is dropping all kinds of spending announcements, including a number on social issues, but they seem to have little effect on polling numbers so far. The PC's have their spring budget this year to make one last huge splash, but it seems the bloom is off the rose no matter what she does.

Wab Kinew has been avoiding controversy, but has made a number of public statements criticizing the PC's, as is his job as Opposition leader. The NDP have a full slate of candidates, and apparently $$ in the bank for the next election.

The Liberals seem to be a non-factor right now.

I believe you're right that Winnipeg is the key. Rural areas almost always vote Conservative. All in all, unless the Conservatives have some kind of enormous win that means Winnipeg can't resist voting for Stephenson, the NDP will form the next government.

Of course, seven months is a long time in politics. If Stephenson pulls off a gigantic coup that benefits the province, or Kinew makes a huge blunder, things might change.

Its always been that way in this province.

I wish they'd come up with a long term plan to make the TCH a stoplightless highway.

A nice article about "demonizing" people. Though it dates back to 1996, from what I've read here it is incredibly relevant to the current discourse.

This is definitely the NDP’s to lose but we all thought Glen Murray was going to win the municipal election until he ended up having a terrible election campaign so we never really know until October.

I really hope the NDP starts providing tangible policies and numbers in their next platform soon.

As an opposition you really have to be strategic on when you start to propose solutions so that the government won't steal them from you. That's why PP is being coy about giving solutions due to the length of time between now and a potential election.
Gives his detractors lots of reasons to mock him but it is the right call, IMO.

Thank you for doing this. Previous thread decended into a mess the past 2 weeks.

My prediction is NDP 36 pcs 19 libs 2. Stefanson will step down after the election and either Glover or Klein will takeover as leader.

Out of the last 80 posts on Manitoba’s provincial politics, 37 are from a guy, with no life, from Saskatchewan. Just telling it how it is.
