YVR has some work to do with airport layouts.

For international/US to Canadian transfers it is great they are doing that upstairs now. However the area they have for it is significantly undersized. The line-ups are long. In was in it on Wednesday around mid-day and the line-up for domestic transfers was spilling into the walkway. Passengers coming off the swing gates were confused by the whole thing in the wayfinding is poor. There were quit a few people who spend time their only to get to the front of the first line and be told they were in the wrong place.

I used the AriveCAN app to pre-complete my declaration before arriving yet I still had to stand in line to wait to get to a kiosk. They should allow anyone who as pre-completed Arrive CAN to jump that line.

And this was just as things were starting to ramp up again.
Seeing these figures this early in the game is very encouraging!

Just checked the flights approved by CAAC, the approved flights from AC from Jan 31:

AC25 YVR-PVG (nonstop) 4x weekly
AC29 YVR-ICN-PEK 1x weekly

AC27 will no longer operate

Change is not reflected on AC schedule yet.

Flair’s transborder program is abysmal.
ANC’s LF would be low as cruising is still in massive recovery mode.
SY maybe should have waited another year.
AUS would be a perfect 220 market me thinks
If YVR gets some A220s based there so much more potential for transborder.

Flair's transborder is already a massive improvement since January. The LF for some routes earlier in the year was as low as 9%, and no TB route from YVR from the first 5 months go over 50% I think. But AC started the SNA route with 20% LF, so that's not that much better...

Maybe July data is a better indicator.. I think a lot of the routes was just started or restarted in early or mid-June.

And yes, AC would definitely need to A220 for AUS, and probably ORD, IAD, BOS, OGG... not sure if it can reach MIA though. But I guess AC don't have enough of them for 3 bases so they're keep giving YVR more and more MAX.

AUS and ANC are great markets on the A220-the MAX8 is a pretty large aircraft and just too much. Even if/when ANC recovers an a220 would be nice for extra frequencies.

I don't really understand SY's strategy with YVR-MSP. F8 has bad loads on pretty much every single TB route so I don't think there's any hope for them at all

AC ran 2x daily 319 for ANC before. The second flight is only during the peak of season July and August.

AC schedule for PVG from Jan 31:

AC25 YVR 0100 - 0640+1 PVG 77W x136
AC26 PVG 1055 - 0540 YVR 77W x247

After DST, +1 hour for the Canadian departure and arrival. Looks like MLL hours will be extended so late into the night that BR passengers will finally be able to use it

Reservation is already available for the non-stop flight.

Looks like AC increase ANC service.

Old: 3x weekly starts May 2, increase to daily from June 18, until season end on Sept 23.
New: 3x weekly starts May 2, increase to daily from May 20 to Sept 23, then operate on every odd-numbered days until Oct 28

Never seen this operating pattern before. So what would the plane do on even-numbered days?

Does anyone have an updated US carrier schedule update for summertime? United looks to be almost back to pre covid on anecdote, while American and Delta are down. Alaska in full retreat! Hard to believe they used to have an extensive yvr network.

Alaska has really been slow at recovering across western Canada. I think it has to do with operational shortcomings.

As with HKG, departure will move back to daytime at 10:20am.

Other changes:
ICN change from 77W to 789
LHR change from 2x 789 to 1x 77W

PVG will use 4x weekly of a 77W, the other 3x weekly is not assigned yet... Will they restart 3x weekly PEK?
